Name(s): Inzei Mishima
Nickname(s): Taurus Thunder, Black Prince
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Birthday: January 10
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: A
Guild: Guildless

APPEARANCE

Height: 182cm
Weight: 166lb
Hair: Dark brown
Eyes: Amber
Description: Standing in at a reasonable height of 182cm (slightly over 5'11"), Inzei is the spitting image of a young man preparing to enter the prime of his life. His dark brown hair is kept long, to the point that it touches his neck, and for the sake of convenience, Inzei is a known practitioner of the ''one sided ponytail''. Harsh self discipline and consistent exposure to the elements has left his body hard and lean, and his face possesses no trace of the softness so often associated with late teens who are somewhere between boy and man. What is left, however, is a young adult with sharp features and a face that very rarely cracks anything more than a sarcastic grin, and what a pretty face it is. When it comes to clothes, Inzei prefers comfort over appearance, often choosing loose, eastern style garments as his preferred attire. That does not mean, however, that Inzei is a man without style and he has been known to dress to impress when the occasion calls for it with loose fitting two piece suits being the particular favorite of Inzei's admirers. His eyes, once a soft brown, have since turned to amber as a direct consequence of Inzei's prolonged usage of Malefic Darkness.

PERSONALITY

Personality: A seemingly shallow and self interested man of few redeeming qualities, Inzei is infamous amongst his circle of friends and acquaintances as an incorrigible playboy incapable of maintaining a meaningful relationship. To others, he often comes across as being egocentric and opportunistic, an arrogant layabout who only springs into action when there is some glory, notoriety or money to be gained. Another major criticism people seem to have of him is the fact that he always makes snap decisions, as opposed to thinking carefully before deciding. Although Inzei would argue that this means he is a decisive person, other people claim that it is a sign of carelessness. However, these unflattering traits only make up a part of Inzei's true personality rather than the bulk of it as people believe. In reality, this semblance is only an elaborate façade that he intentionally puts on, partly so that others will underestimate him and partly to stop people from attempting to get too close to him. There are, however, few people who are aware of Inzei's true disposition and others who have figured it out for themselves after various (or few) encounters with him.

True enough he is a womanizer, and may be one until the end of his days (until he meets the right girl) but at the core, he is a devoted man who always has the well being of those he cares about in mind. Although his reputation has been badly tainted, only a select few of those misdeeds can be attributed to him personally. During battles, he takes care to make sure that needless casualties are avoided, even getting involved in fights that have nothing to do with him if it seems like an innocent party is going to get caught in the crossfire. Hiding behind a veil of self importance and cynicism is a man capable of great kindness and with his largely unnoticed selfless acts, he has earned the stalwart loyalty of those he has helped and those perceptive enough to see through his deceptive exterior.

Inzei is a naturally charismatic person, articulate and charming, and his exotic background only adds to the allure. It goes without saying that he is quite popular with members of the opposite sex, and he does not hesitate to take advantage of this. Although kind and thoughtful to his friends, he is stubborn to a tee and can be immensely cruel, seeking to cause as much pain as possible to those he would consider his enemies. This could very likely be due to Inzei's constant usage of Malefic Darkness magic, an old and sinister type of magic that tends to twist the personality of its user.

Motivations:

  • Life Security: Due to his lineage, Inzei has always been known as a portent of misfortune, a star-crossed child who was simply living on borrowed time and would be found dead soon enough, probably in a ditch somewhere. Although this seemed like the path that Fate had carved out for him, Inzei has been reluctant to simply accept it and has often struggled against the tribulations thrown his way. Being rid of the shadowy cryptocracy from his home country who want him dead is one of Inzei's major goals. In addition, he also wishes to amass the necessary funds to live a comfortable life in Fiore.
  • The Beast Who Lived East of Eden: This is a well known story from Inzei's home country and could be considered his 'holy grail', if you will. There are documents purporting the existence of this beast, although the credibility of these documents have often been called into question. For many, it is nothing but a fairy tale concocted by adults to entertain the wailing children. Inzei, however, believes that this beast does exist although the story, passed down orally, has exaggerated much of the details, and he wishes to find it.

Fears:

  • Consciously Committing Evil Acts: This may sound like an unfounded fear, but it is genuinely one that keeps Inzei awake at night. One of the major side effects of Inzei's magic is that his latent malevolency will manifest itself, most often in the form of dark and sinister thoughts which can eventually lead to deeds of a similar nature. As a result, most nights, Inzei is plagued by dreams in which he is committing heinous acts, completely aware of what he is doing yet oblivious to the fact that he is dreaming. While he is relieved that he was only having a nightmare when he awakes there is the lingering fear that, one day, it won't just be a dream.
  • Losing His Loved Ones: It may be hard to believe looking at him now but Inzei was not always the kind of guy who was reluctant to have meaningful relationships with others, romantic or otherwise. Once upon a time, he had his own family, and his own friends and subordinates. Basically, they were people that he cared for and because he cared for and valued them so deeply, his heart was completely broken the day that they were forcibly taken away from him. Even now, he has people precious to him (although he rarely shows it), and does his best to make sure they're taken care of.
  • Retribution: Inzei has always tried his best to do the right thing, but all your internal conflict means nothing if you just end up doing the wrong thing anyway, right? This is more or less the kind of pit that Inzei has gotten himself into. Falling prey to passions of the flesh, mercy killings (something highly frowned upon in his code of conduct) and pledges that he could not upkeep, Inzei has brought calamity to many people who have tried to help him. In Inzei's mind, only eternal torture in the deepest circle of Hell is appropriate for him, and he fears when his misdeeds from the past will eventually catch up with him.

Likes:

  • Rain: The pattering of heavy rain against the tiled roof of the temple where Inzei lived was a sound commonplace throughout his entire childhood life. Even now, when rain falls in his new home of Fiore, Inzei finds himself flushed with nostalgia and yearning. In addition, he finds the sound of rain to be very mellifluous and relaxing to listen to.
  • Learning: Amassing knowledge and implementing it practically in his everyday life is important for Inzei, and as a result, it is very common for Inzei to be asking questions of people more well versed in a particular subject than him or reading books that would be nemesis to laymen.
  • Money: Financial stability is what Inzei strives for and in order to achieve that goal, he, of course, needs money. An overindulgent and greedy person by nature, Inzei is no longer satisfied with simply getting by as he had done in the past but rather, he wants more than he can handle. He'd prefer to have leftovers at the dinner table he can make into a sandwich for a midnight snack as opposed to having just enough to eat.
  • Women: Having come from a conservative country where it was considered almost sinful to leer at attractive ladies, Inzei rarely ever looked at the opposite sex, although that does not mean that his eyes did not wander from time to time. When he eventually arrived on Fiore's liberal shores at the ripe age of 13, however, all of that changed thus giving birth to the Lothario that he is today.

Dislikes:

  • Children: It is an exaggeration to claim that Inzei hates all children, but it is true that he would rather not be near kids if he could help it. There is nothing that grinds his gears more than hearing the whining of a child who is not getting what he wants.
  • Inefficiency: You can never be too sure when you'll beat the dust, and that is a thought that often crops up in Inzei's mind. As a result, he likes to spend his days being as productive as possible and is almost never seen idling around.
  • High Society: Inzei lived for quite a number of years with a family that could be considered ''high society'' and because of that, he has mingled with some very famous socialites and celebrities. He was always polite and courteous, but in reality, he was not very fond of the aristocracy. This does not extend to every single person who dares calls himself  a member of the elite but rather, Inzei's hatred is reserved specifically for those born into power having done nothing to deserve it, the kind of scumbag who sits in his mansion during wartime extolling nationalism and patriotism to those who would fight on the front lines.
  • Sour Foods: He really isn't able to handle anything sour.

Positive Characteristics:

  • Deceitful (+2): You have a knack for disguising the truth. Your lies are difficult to distinguish from the truth.
Explanation: Players can lie to enemies when being questioned and won't get caught if they're lying.

  • High Society (+2): You know good manners and were trained to handle social interactions in noble circles. This is useful in requests involving members of the highest levels of society, such as monarchs, nobles, courtiers, lords and ladies, and high-ranking clerics.
Explanation: You are capable of having threads with nobles. Those without this feat cannot.

  • Persuasive (+2): You have a way with words and body language. Somehow you manage to persuade weaker minded people easily.
Explanation: When using this feat, players will have to roll a bronze die. Failure to land on a number results in them agreeing with you.

  • Blind-Fight (+4): You know how to fight in melee without being able to see your foes.
    Explanation: Self Explanatory.

    (+10)

Negative Characteristics:

  • Arrogant (-1): You firmly believe that you are better than anyone else is. Your ideas are the best, your clothes are the most stylish, and you have to let everyone else know how much better you are. Once in a while you openly show contempt or disdain for someone else.
Explanation: You must at least act arrogant one out of five posts.

  • Bad Reputation (-1): You have a reputation that angers or frightens people. Examples include being unlucky, petty, or cruel. The rep may or may not be accurate, but in either case, word travels faster than you do.
Explanation: You can't communicate easily with non player characters. Somehow they've heard of you and the things they've heard weren't too good.

  • Cruel (-1): You have a sadistic streak that causes you to perform acts of cruelty for no good reason. Of course, this doesn't endear you to others. Most times you are prudent enough to carry out your cruelties on those under your thumb, rather than those you see as equals. However, you carry a constant social stigma, as rumors have their way of getting around.
Explanation: You must perform an act of cruelty one out of five posts.

  • Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations.

  • Dark Secret (-1): You have some sort of secret that, if revealed, would make you an outcast amongst your society and companions. While this secret is on your mind at all times, it will come up in topics only once in a while, but when it does, watch out!
Explanation: You must think about your dark secret at least one out of ten posts. When things that are relevant to the dark secret are brought up you can't stop thinking about it. (Fornication between stepsiblings, especially in a noble family is highly frowned upon. Although a fierce denier, Inzei often finds his mind occupied with Valeria whenever her name is brought up)

  • Extravagant (-2): You enjoy living in the lap of luxury. Ale is never good enough if you can get fine wine instead. You aren't happy with anything less than the finest room in the inn. In addition, any equipment or services you purchase cost 10% more than the standard rate for the locale you are currently in. The best of the best always costs more, after all.
Explanation: You will always pay 10% more when purchasing something.

  • Greedy (-1): Money makes your eyes light up with joy. The more, the merrier, as long as it spends. Once in a while, whenever you're divvying up shares of the loot, being offered a hefty bribe, or catching wind of some fabulous treasure, the flaw can to convince you to grab for as much money as possible.
Explanation: You may act differently when money comes into play.

  • Proud (-1): You don't like accepting help from others. If a gift or offer of aid smacks of charity or pity even the slightest bit, you grow indignant and refuse it.
Explanation: You win 10% less jewels from wheel spins.

  • Hedonistic (-1): You love a good time. You party too much, drink too much, and eat too much. You have trouble resisting an invitation to join someone in a drink and sometimes shirk your duty if offered a more enjoyable time elsewhere. Whenever a good time is presented you let your guard down. You're also not capable to resist seduction of any sort. It's just not in your nature to resist such opportunities.
Explanation: You always give in when a good time is offered such as drinks, women and other things. Even in the midst of a dangerous raid through a castle you decide to stay in the room that has wine and beautiful girls in them even though they could be monsters.

    (-10)

MAGIC

Magic: Malefic Darkness
Type: Caster
Element: Darkness
Description: Malefic Darkness is a branch of darkness magic that allows the user to manipulate the element of darkness for offensive, defensive and misc. purposes. It is a powerful yet corrupting magic capable of granting its user immense power but in return, the user's personality will become increasingly warped and twisted as usage is prolonged. As such, it is not a magic that can be used by those of the 'Good' alignment (at least not without dire consequences). By not fully utilizing the magic's abilities to its maximum potential, this ultimately inevitable change can be slowed down.

This magic is versatile in the way that it can be used in a variety of ways from physically hurting opponents with beams to completely engulfing a room in darkness, and preventing them from seeing. As Malefic Darkness is, by nature, an 'evil' magic, those daring enough to try and consume it will suffer from severe vertigo if they are of the Good or Neutral alignment.

HISTORY

History: It was supposed to be a safe place, a happy place where orphans could be nurtured and educated in preparation for meaningful lives. Inzei, born to a mother and father who's lives were not intended to be long by rite of the Gods was sent to such a place at the tender age of six. The reality of this 'safe place', however, could not have been further from what was said. Beatings, severe scoldings, both physical and mental abuse of varying degrees, depending on the mood of the tormentors, was the only thing that awaited the orphaned children unfortunate enough to be sent to this particular home. However, they endured, and when the day of blessed liberation came, the authorities made it their own personal mission to ensure that the twelve surviving kids (aged between 9 and 15) would be sent to good families, with good environments where they could readjust to the real world. The dedication of these authorities was admirable, and while their actions were occasionally seen as an desperate attempt to save face, nobody was happier than Inzei when he was told that he would be sent to a distant country to live with an affluent family there.

"遙かなる空は胸を裂くように,"
"The distant sky arouses forgotten memories,"

It would be a lie to say that the Valerius family considered Inzei to be their third, and youngest, child. At the same time, it would be an even more blatant lie to claim that the family's head, Vance Valerius, did not treat Inzei like one of his own sons and that he did not appreciate the boy's presence around his manor. The Valerius family, even within the realm of Crocus, was considered to be exceedingly powerful and wealthy. Inzei, who had been added to the family (although was not given the right to take the family name), had been adopted originally to act as as a bodyguard for the patriarch's daughter, Valeria, who, unlike her older brother and family successor, Varus, was shy, innocent and in her father's words, 'naive'. Vance believed that his daughter would be too easily wooed, too easily influenced by negative forces once she was older and as such, wanted someone to protect her. Someone young, someone obedient and someone just as easily impressionable as Valeria who could be melded into the perfect protector. At that time, Inzei was no more than 9, Valeria was 11 and Varus had just turned 14.

"白い桜の花の季節は,"
"The season of the white cherry blossoms standing in full blossom,"

The relationship between Inzei and his new so called siblings was good. His new older brother, Vance taught him how to be brave, and how to charm when it came to adults. The timidness that had been beaten into the young Inzei had disappeared and more a confident, outgoing one appeared in his place, a development that seemed to please Vance and Varus more than it did Inzei himself. Valeria, on the other hand, did not teach Inzei a thing yet he still found himself enamored by her gentleness and sophisticated wit. The relationship between the two was especially knitted. Varus, who was often absent due to his grooming as the next family head, did not notice the relationship that was blossoming between his sister and stepbrother. Yes, indeed, the relationship between Valeria and Inzei was deep, deeper than Vance had anticipated and certainly deeper than Varus had known. When Inzei was 15 and Valeria was 17, he could no longer be considered just her playmate but rather, he had been promoted to the position of her own personal butler. It was also at this time that Valeria was pursued relentless by suitors, and for Inzei, it was a time of great frustration and confusion.

"遠く夢の中にだけ,"
"It exists only in a faraway dream,"

No matter how arrogant or obnoxious the boys who chased her behaved, Valeria never replied with anything more than mild courtesy. She respected their achievements, some of which even managed to impress Inzei, but she also always maintained the same, unchanging stance - she simply was not interested. When one suitor, the youngest son of a gentleman of considerable renown once laid his hands on her after he was rejected, Inzei could no longer contain his rage. After teaching the young noble some proper manners, Inzei suggested to Vance that talks of proposals and engagements for Valeria be postponed for the foreseeable future, and after seeing the state of the offender, duly agreed. It was also around this time that Vance decided to impart the wonder of magic upon his ward, deciding that Inzei was a worthy guardian for his daughter, completely oblivious to the taboo relationship that had already blossomed between them. The finest magical instructors were brought to the Valerius household to teach magic to both Varus and Inzei. Whereas Varus was excited about the prospect of learning, Inzei turned the instructors away, finding their chosen disciplines and elements to be boring and uninteresting.

"吹く風が頬を撫でていく,"
"A breeze, tinted with the hues of nostalgic memories,"

Inzei had been walking home one day when the man collapsed before him. Panting and needing water and food more than immediate medical attention, Inzei was more than willing to throw him the remaining pieces of his to-go meal. Grateful, and with something up his sleeve, the man said he would give Inzei the answer that he wanted. Turning around and throwing down his cloak, the man exposed his bare back to Inzei and engraved on the man's skin was the supposed answer that he was offering. As a thanks for helping him, the formerly cloaked man would teach Inzei his own discipline of magic, Malefic Darkness. Enticed by the seemingly flawless motto of ''get what you put in'', Inzei agreed and he quickly learned what it meant to be a user of Malefic Darkness. Strange, seemingly senile homeless hags on the street would hiss at him, animals would avoid him and when in applicable regions, he would even be attacked by wild beasts or strange creature. Perhaps users of Malefic Darkness gave out some sort of scent that only certain beings could pick up, or maybe they were attracted by Inzei's diluted amber eyes or increasingly sinister disposition. In any case, he was completely aware that his new abilities were to blame.

"懐かしい思い出が滲む,"
"Caresses my cheeks as it passes,"

Their deaths came as a surprise more to Inzei than anyone else. Valeria had been found in her bed, the necklace that Inzei had gifted to her still hanging from her neck. There was no trace of foul play involved yet it would have been naive of Inzei to simply attribute this death to natural causes. Vance had been found the exact same way, the only difference being that he was in his office and not in his bed. Distraught, yet somehow not surprised, Inzei fled Crocus. Last he heard, Varus had assumed the position of Valerius family head, just as Vance had intended. Although Inzei was considered one of the casualties of whatever blight had hit the Valeriuis household that night, Varus is wise, and sitting on his lonely throne, he patiently awaits his brother's return. Meanwhile, Inzei is grateful for his mostly anonymous status. Although Vance and now Varus were men anyone in Crocus could recognize with a single glance, the same could not be said of Inzei. Valeria was considered a genuine beauty, and he her handsome and exotic knight. However, these tales were not documented in magazines and the like at all, but rather, spread through word of mouth and the occasional eyewitness. In other words, Inzei's face was unrecognizable, and the ''Valerius Family Knight'' has been noted to have both green and black hair, and seven feet tall to boot, features that Inzei, not unfortunately, lacks.

"舞い散る花びらの囁いた,"
"The dancing blossoms scattering through the air,"

Inzei was now alone. He had managed to stow away with a little bit of money but even then, he could not live out the rest of his life with just that, even if he became the most frugal of men. Taking a direct page from Varus' book, Inzei decided to rely on his looks and charm to get by, ultimately settling in Accadia and working as both a model and freelance mage. He has also been known to take the occasional ''sugar mommy'' in order to supplement certain purchases, and while his income was now fairly great, it was anything but stable. He continued his extravagant lifestyle and began to take on even more dangerous jobs, utilizing his Malefic Darkness to the point that the milky brown of his eyes could no longer be seen. Nightmares began to plague him and more often than not, Vance and Valeria would make appearances, having seeped into his dreams somehow. Inzei now often found himself waking in the middle of the night, full of fear and foreboding. Sometimes, there would be a lady by his side that he could take comfort in. That helped, and other times, it would be a bottle. In truth, one was just as good as the other.

"忘れられない言葉,"
"Whisper unforgettable words that will forever be engraved in my memory,"

Sometime before his 20th birthday, Inzei saw something. Flying high above the sky yet was a creature that was quite obviously a beast yet, if one were to concentrate, could make out to be somewhat humanoid. Reminded of tales from his childhood, of cemeteries where you could revive the dead by burying their corpse there, of dragons who flew freely in the skies and of course, the legendary beast from the story that had colored his imagination as a boy. Leaving his lover of the week a handwritten note explaining his absence, Inzei immediately traveled to Fiorano, deciding that being a mage based in only one city was a lonely affair.
