Velvet had a secure grip around Valiance's hand, one that was locked in an embrace that never wanted to be released. Looking up to him, she gave it a tender squeeze before walking on. In her other hand, a button clicked and her umbrella flowed outwards, giving them both shade from the sun above.

"Such fine weather today, Valiance. The birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing. It's days like this that are just sublime, wouldn't you agree."

Despite the smile on her face and casual conversaton, she knew this was only temporary. How rare were these moments of respite she was able to have. Things changed so much that fateful day, spiraling downwards. Velvet even wondered if she would still be where she was now.

Were it not for Valiance.

Her thoughts were pulled back when he spoke about money for food. Had someone asked her that months ago, she could have afforded a buffet. The place that served the buffet. The company that served the buffet. But now Velvet only had the few jewels that jingled in her reinforced and locked purse. It took a theif to know a thief.

"A little," she said. "We can get ourselves something decent for now. I'll get ourselves a few more jewels while we are in town."
