APPEARANCE

Height: 5 ft 9
Weight: 160 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Grey
Description: Percival Mantiago, is, by most standards, an average looking guy. He will not stand out in a crowd either by being a dashing prince charming, or a grotesque phantom of the opera. He has silky black hair that usually ends up displaced to being all at the right side of his head due to his seemingly incurable bedhead. For an outfit, thought what he dons can shift day by day, usually consists of shorts and flipflops. As for a shirt he can be seen wearing either a sports jersey, or a tighter t-shirt with possibly a light overshirt on. Sometimes, in cooler weather he’ll wear a sweater, but will usually not take off his shorts for a pair of pants. As for his build, he has a lightly muscled build, signalling an athletic lifestyle and training exercises, as well as a shallow tan. As for underwear, Percival Mantiago is far more of a briefs guy he would say, as boxers don’t allow for the free range of motion he would prefer.

PERSONALITY

Personality: At his base, Percival is the epitome of just another regular man. Calm, nice, relaxed, humorous and willing to make light of every situation. He can be nice and polite to complete strangers he knows nothing about, or has no reason to believe anything about. Just a regular guy that any other regular people would be perfectly happy to talk to, at least, not having any reason not to talk to him.

But when you put in religion to the mix, all of this goes to hell. Sure, Percival can casually uphold his religion, tipping over a pagan symbol or too offhandedly, casually handing out a pamphlet in the middle of conversation. But thanks to his mental and physical training by the church, this devotion can get far more extreme very quickly. Firstly, we have the fanaticism. When he sees what he views as a transgression against his religion, he can take drastic action, from light verbal warnings, to violent outbursts, to him, once he sees a transgression or equivalent that requires fanatic action, basically nothing else matters, and he has to do justice by his Lord.

Then there’s Mantiago’s daredevil streak. When he feels fear, he feels the need to be spurred forward by fear. When he sees a challenge, or feels fear, he does not want to back down, but is motivated even more to try the challenge the harder it is. This is both because of some base instinct for adventure, and not feeling alive without the feeling of fear that was naturally in him, and also because of how he views not conquering his fear and not pushing through fear is a failure to God, not to mention how conquering large challenges and people that would instill fear into his heart brings great honour to his God.

Finally, there’s Percival’s insanities. His mania takes the form of believing he can hear his God talking to him directly, telling him what to do, and doing whatever he deems needed to do by God. His anxiety makes him suspicious of others, making him snap at them, and often wonder about their impurities against the Holy One. Finally, his obsessive compulsive disorder takes the form of constantly thinking how objects and furniture or even parts of nature could be rearranged to better suit his God.

In combat, Percival Mantiago is as smart as the rest of them, appearing calm and collected, having learned how to fight and strategies from the Order of Paladins. He’s constantly moving forward, each move intended to help him win the fight. He would hate to bring dishonour to his God and lose after all.

Motivations:

  • Spreading the word of his God
  • Becoming powerful enough to be a full embodiment of his God’s will
  • Bringing an end to the age of false gods

Fears:

  • Somehow being damned to hell, even after all of his services to his one and true glorious God
  • Failing in his task at making his God worshipped greatest religion ever
  • Losing his faith in God.

Likes:

  • Justice - He likes to do justice by his God, and upholding the tenants set before him
  • His God - This should be pretty obvious
  • His Order - They raised him, taught him, fed him, and trained him, so it's obvious why he would like them and show loyalty towards them
  • Making light of situations - He likes life being entertaining, and joking around when he gets the chance is one of the ways he can do that.

Dislikes:

  • Criminal Scum - He doesn't like people who go against God and commit crimes
  • Heretics - He doesn't like people who misuse the name of God, and give the church a bad name
  • The Bourgeoisie - There are tenants against the rich taking advantage of the poor, and he has a distaste for nobility who think they are better than the poor trampling over them, when everyone is actually all equal in God's eyes
  • Pagan Scum - He doesn't like people who practice dark religions against God, not only not following his way, but also going so far as to practice a religion that actively goes against his God, and of course he also has misgivings about people who don't believe a practice a religion that isn't his, but he can usually get past that
  • Losing - He doesn't like bringing dishonour to his God.

Positive Characteristics:

  • Deceitful (+2): You have a knack for disguising the truth. Your lies are difficult to distinguish from the truth.
Explanation: Players can lie to enemies when being questioned and won't get caught if they're lying.
  • Enhanced Strength (+3): Your character is slightly stronger than other characters when it comes to physical strength.
Explanation: Players have C-rank strength buff passively.
  • Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move faster than most people.
    Explanation: C-rank speed buff passive.
  • Regeneration (+4): You heal very fast inside and outside of combat. Small cuts that go up to one inch deep are healed in the next post.
Explanation: C-rank damage healed every post.

Negative Characteristics:

  • Daredevil (-2): You only really feel alive when you're staring death in the face. Your character is addicted to the thrill of death-defying stunts, pushing themselves to the limit at every available opportunity.
Explanation: You can't refuse the opportunity of engaging into combat with anyone or anything that is stronger than you. You also always volunteer and perform tasks that have a risk attached to them when you are in a group.

  • Derangement/Insanity (-3): Due to circumstances beyond your control, you are permanently insane. You may have a congenital brain disorder, or perhaps you saw something mortals were never intended to lay eyes upon, and it drove you mad. Choose a Derangement/Insanity for your character from the lists below. Though the list is by no means exhaustive, the following options are ones that have been presented in game terms and that have definable--and most times numerical--penalties.

    • Generalized Anxiety Disorder: The character suffers from a variety of physical and emotional symptoms that can be grouped into certain categories (select a single category).
Explanation: Character has a tendency to snap at people for no reason.
    • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: This illness manifests in one of two main forms, obsessive thoughts or compulsive actions; some characters exhibit both. (Manifests in thoughts)
    • Mania: The character has a fairly constant euphoric or possibly irritable mood. Symptoms include a general increase in activity, talkativeness, increased self-esteem to the point of delusion, decreased need for sleep, being easily distracted, willingness for dangerous or imprudent activities , delusions, hallucinations, and bizarre behavior.
Explanation: Character must be affected by their mania once every three posts.

      • Exhibits itself as unflinching belief in his God, doing anything that he thinks might please his God, no matter how strange. Even going as so far as to believe he can hear his God talking to him.

  • Fanaticism (-1): This can be a substantial disadvantage for a character, though it requires significant roleplaying commitment on the part of the player. The fanaticism can be dedication to a particular cult, religion, or god, or it can be more worldly-based, in the sense of overwhelming loyalty to a state, a military presence, or to a particular leader. Whatever their sources, the different types of fanaticism have several things in common. If a certain code of behavior is called for by the belief, then the character must conform to that behavior even if it conflicts with the immediate goals of the character and his companions. While fanaticism is not necessarily evil, it may certainly become tiresome to those who do not share the fanatics beliefs.
Explanation: You must always strongly act out to your beliefs even if it goes against your immediate goals or it brings the lives of people you care about in danger.

MAGIC

Percival Mantiago IL6Zy9r

Magic: Divine Providence of the Paladin
Type: Caster
Element: Light
Description: The Divine Providence of the Paladin is the magic taught to Paladins and trainee Paladins. It is a magic that utilizes light in all of its forms and ends. Be it offensive means, or defensive ones. The Order claims that they have no actual power of the magic, and it’s all the work of the one they worship. Be this true or not, they still have to use up their magic power normally like everyone else, although they claim that it is simply them paying a price for invoking holy wrath. Users can call upon the holy light from the sky or other sources, or if need be, generate their own light. They can use this holy magic to all of its ends in offensive and defensive means, utilizing all of the strengths that light has to offer. It has all of the elemental advantages and disadvantages that a light magic would normally have. Additionally, a user of this magic must have complete faith in their God, otherwise the magic will immediately fail them.

HISTORY

History: On the day of December 21st, Percival Mantiago was born. He was not a particularly remarkable baby. He didn't cry too loud, but he wasn't a quiet baby either. He was a cute baby, but nothing worth note. His parents didn't pay overly amounts of attention to him because of this, not worrying about the child, or feeling the need to give him special attention. This attitude of approaching him was approached by all adults and children alike, he wasn't special enough to be noticed, and wasn't stupid or unspecial enough to warrant special attention. This is quite possibly what caused Percival's dearly years and developmental stages to be so slow, or made him so stupid, for lack of a better word. When at the tender age of seven, he was found by his parents at a daycare trying to put a wooden circular shape into a cutout triangle space for a solid three hours, it was obvious to his parents that they had in fact effectively failed at raising a child. This is what caused them to hand him over the church, or the Holy Order of Paladins, they would train him to become a Holy Priest and Paladin in the future.

For the next years of his life, Percival was trained in the art of the Holy Paladin. He was trained in the art of combat, and the holy magics. He was also trained in theory, learning to memorize every commandment and verse of the Paladin’s Creed and Sacred Writings. Trained in the art of recognizing the other “pagan” religions, and knowing the lore of the world, and how it all had the hand of the Holy Lord in it in secret. Percival also had an unwavering belief in the Holy Life Force, this was done through constant lessons, and reminders, psychological methods, and exhibits of the All Knowing One’s power, until Percival lived, and breathed the Divine Being’s glory. With these trainings, Percival was able to become a priest at the age of 14, and able to attain the rank of Paladin at 17, (junior Paladin).

This had some unwarranted side-effects on Percival’s mind though. Although the teachings in this Deity had beneficial effects on him like helping his development, both mental and combat-wise, it is also the main reason behind his personal insanities. The constant impounding of belief into him is the reason for his mania, because he goes so far as to believe not only unflinching in taking actions for his God despite any personal misgivings. Even believing that he can sometimes hear his God speaking to him. Also causing his fanaticism and compulsiveness, and believing that he must face fears and attack challenges in the name of God.

Eventually though, the Holy Order of Paladins got sick of Percival and his constant quirks. Even they could not really stand someone who constantly viewed himself as some sort of prophet talking to God. So a bit after his ascension to the ranking of Paladin, the Order put him on a “super special mission,” where he would have to perform missionary work and also do charity work, and also uphold justice, and also do anything that involved him being far away from the Grand Cathedral. It was a pretty vague mission. Nevertheless, Paladin Mantiago took it very seriously, and set out to do justice.  And thus the saga of Paladin Percival Mantiago begins, be it brief, horribly boring and elongated, or really fucking cool and epic.

Hey there. The name is Videns and I shall be evaluating your app. There are only a few things I'd like to address.

  • Could you place your Motivations and Fears into bullet points. It would just make easier to read and distinguish that you have more than one.

  • Could expand on your likes and dislikes. Why does your character like and dislike thise certain things. A sentence oe two would do.

  • Lastly from your magic could you remove the fact that it buffs, or you could get rid of attacking and defending and add that it can heal aswell as buff and debuff. Although judging from your character I think I know which one you are gonna choose xD.

But other than those it's perfect, really enjoyed reading it!

Bump when done
