Rosencrantz

Rosencrantz

I see you could use a hand, oh - there goes the other one.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Name(s): Rosencrantz.
Nickname(s): Rossen.
Age: 17.
Gender: Male.
Birthday: April 1.
Sexuality: Heterosexual.
Rank: B.
Guild: Dragon Maw.
Tattoo: Side of torso, just above pelvis.
Face Claim: Allen Walker - D.Gray Man

APPEARANCE

Height: 5'8".
Weight: 136 lbs.
Hair: White.
Eyes: Black.
Description: Sturdy bones; toned muscles, though not particularly defined nor large; not thin, but not overweight; pale skinned. Just above his left eye, Rosencrantz bears the mark of an upside-down star, which he has had since his birth. Over the eye, there is a jagged scar which extends from the bottom point of the star scar and tapers off towards his lower jaw. This scar, he received when he was making fun of a muggle swordsman - the fight which ensued ended in a draw. Just below this same eye, crossing over this scar, is one more scar, one he received from his magic teacher. His hair grows longish on top of his head, whereas the sides of his head are kept trim, at a size 1 in barber terms. He maintains at all times that his hairdo is absolutely not a bowl cut. At age 17, he's now started to have his facial hair come in, which he shaves off weekly even if it is not visible, in order to prevent him from looking like an older fellow, what with his hair colour being white and all. His irises are a stony black, kind of grayish in direct light. His left eye has a purplish blackish small spot which you can only see when his eyes look off to his left and a bit up. The spot, he reckons, looks a little like an X shaped cross.
Rosencrantz wears a black cloak with a hood and silvered hemmings. Underneath, a simple greenish gray tunic, and some durable heavy cotton khaki-coloured pants with lots and lots of pockets.

PERSONALITY

Personality: Rosencrantz is generally an ok guy, albeit with his flaws, such as being far too naive, trusting blindly the words of others. Yeah, he's kind of a simple guy, easily provoked, and a little too cocky than his ability may provide him the backing to do. A fair number of times he has, in combat, lowered his guard to mock his opponent or to demonstrate that he feels he is the superior fighter. Speaking of his combat, he takes to a more offensive style of combat, mostly doing away with defensive measures, magically, at least. As this may suggest, Rosencrantz has a nature which pretty much makes him a thrill seeker, throwing himself at the unknown, the dangerous tasks. What really gets him going is when he's told that he may not complete a task, or he may not be able to return from something. By extension of this behaviour, Rosencrantz can be easily manipulated in this way to do things for others.
Power is a concept he is obsessed with. As many pursuers of magic before him, as many with the will to live before him, one of Rosencrantz' most deep desires is to gain power, power so much so that he would not know what to do with when he sat at the top. Of course, easier said than done, and as many before him, Rosencrantz struggles with the woes of not having the level of power to his desires, and with the fact that there are others bearing far greater power than his own.
He sometimes angrily lashes this frustration at those around him, though they may have no part in committing any actions against him. This further marginalizes him from himself, he later thoroughly gives himself an emotional beating over possibly hurting another's feelings. Furthermore, this behaviour adds fuel to his daredevil disposition, as he attempts to forget or bury his feelings as deep as the thrill will allow.
Malacanth is the only person allowed to shorten 'Rosencrantz' to 'Rosen'; Rosencrantz is Rossen to everyone who can't make the tiny effort to complete his name. As the elder brother, and far more darker mannered of the two, Rosencrantz couldn't bear to see Malacanth hurt - he would go ballistic - so he tries his level best to protect his younger brother. The only person to whom Rosencrantz would hold his tongue, that is Malacanth. Rosencrantz has never lifted his hand against his little brother and he is determined to never do so.

Motivations: Proving himself - (refer to fears, asthenophobia)
Fears: Asthenophobia - Almost like a schizophrenic, Rosencrantz struggles with a feeling that his shortcomings are insurmountable, and that he may ultimately prove to be nothing more than a grunt soldier remaining unmentioned throughout all records of the future history books.
Likes: Winning - just any instance which injects him with endorphines, really. He's an adrenaline junkie. Food - He likes to eat.
Dislikes: Being lied to - especially by someone he trusts, lying suggests that you don't respect that person enough to dignify them with the truth. Things in a state of disarray - the disorganization interrupts his thinking, it really irks him, Rosencrantz can't shut the feeling out once he knows there's mess in his home. He thinks nothing of it when he sees other people's homes or work-spaces disorganized, though.
Positive Characteristics:

  • Diligent (+2): Your meticulousness allows you to analyze minute details that others miss.
Explanation: Reduces training cost of spells by 10% in word cost.

  • Enhanced Strength (+3): Your character is slightly stronger than other characters when it comes to physical strength.
Explanation: Players have C-rank strength buff passively.

  • Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move faster than most people.
    Explanation: C-rank speed buff passive.

  • Blind-Fight (+4): You know how to fight in melee without being able to see your foes.
    Explanation: Self Explanatory.

Negative Characteristics:

  • Arrogant (-1): You firmly believe that you are better than anyone else is. Your ideas are the best, your clothes are the most stylish, and you have to let everyone else know how much better you are. Once in a while you openly show contempt or disdain for someone else.
Explanation: You must at least act arrogant one out of five posts.

  • Trusting (-2): You don't like to believe that other people are capable of misleading and lying to you. After all, people are basically good, right?
Explanation: If someone lies, you automatically believe it.

  • Talkative (-1): You have a problem keeping your plans to yourself. Your ideas are simply so clever that you tell them to other people, so that you can watch their astonishment creep across their faces just before they tell you just how smart you are. Your flaw gets you to reveal your plans or evil scheme to the wrong people. There's nothing to prevent you from dropping them into a deathtrap afterwards, but should they survive, then you've got problems.
Explanation: You cannot keep a secret, and thus must announce the name of every one of your attacks.

  • Bravado (-2): You are rash in combat, refusing to show weakness by falling back from your enemies' blows. You either face it and stop it, or get hit in the progress. In addition, you cannot fight defensively.
Explanation: You can't create any defensive spells. Offensive spells are made to inflict damage while defensive spells do not inflict any damage at all and are made to prevent damage.

  • Daredevil (-2): You only really feel alive when you're staring death in the face. Your character is addicted to the thrill of death-defying stunts, pushing themselves to the limit at every available opportunity.
Explanation: You can't refuse the opportunity of engaging into combat with anyone or anything that is stronger than you. You also always volunteer and perform tasks that have a risk attached to them when you are in a group.

  • Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations.

  • Derangement/Insanity (-3): Due to circumstances beyond your control, you are permanently insane. You may have a congenital brain disorder, or perhaps you saw something mortals were never intended to lay eyes upon, and it drove you mad. Choose a Derangement/Insanity for your character from the lists below. Though the list is by no means exhaustive, the following options are ones that have been presented in game terms and that have definable--and most times numerical--penalties.

    • Generalized Anxiety Disorder: The character suffers from a variety of physical and emotional symptoms that can be grouped into certain categories (select a single category).
Explanation: Character has a tendency to snap at people for no reason.
    • Obsessions: The character cannot help thinking about an idea, image, or impulse incessantly, often involving violence and self-doubt. These ideas are frequently repugnant to the character, but they are so strong that during times of stress (such as combat) she may be unable to concentrate on anything else, even if doing so is necessary for her survival.
Explanation: Character must think about the target of their obsession one out of five posts.

MAGIC

Magic: Urumi.
Type: Holder.
Element: Metal.
Description: Metal bands which the user wears around his fingers are manipulated to become elongated, flexible whips. The whips are flat, like strips of cloth, not round like ropes. This comes in useful both in battle, where the produced whips can be used to strike with enough strength to shatter rock, and outside of it, enabling the user to cling onto various things from the surrounding environment to reach otherwise unreachable heights, to let himself down from the very same heights, and to move around freely.

HISTORY

History: They were orphaned young. Rosencrantz can't even remember his father, let alone his mother. His mother passed shortly after Rosencrantz's brother was born. The twenty three days of labour really did a number on her. His brother, Malacanth was technically his twin, but their birthdays were over twenty days apart. Besides himself with grief, his father took his own life within a year and a half after eight previous failed attempts. You know what they say, the ninth time's the charm. The brothers were exiled to the nearest orphanage where they were often bullied by the other, older, bigger kids. Rosencrantz tried to convince Malacanth to escape this unaccommodating abode.
When he accomplished that, the twins fled to a port town by train. Once there, the pair resorted to thieving up their livelihood. They stowed away on a ship by accident when they were scrounging for food. Not knowing of the two small free riders, the ship set off, out into open sea. The ship was attacked by pirates, who sunk the ship, but not before pilfering the ship of goods and kidnapping a handful of the ship's passengers. The weak looking ones. The twins were found and brought to the pirate's ship who were intent on selling their kidnap victims for at minimum a few hundred jewels.
Perhaps it was their good luck, but, at some point thereafter, the ship floated into a nasty storm. They had no chance of escaping. The ship was ravaged by the voracious waves. When the pirates attempted to jump ship, one of the crew had the idea to take the kidnap victim's too, to purchase a new boat later. The captives were brought to the deck, which is when they saw rise out of the wild ocean the legendary kraken. The kraken tore the helpless vessel asunder. In the ensuing confusion, the twins found themselves on a raft, with another of the captives, an old man furiously rowing away from the great squid.
Rosencrantz later woke up on a dry, rocky beach. The elderly man was very eager to pass down his magical knowledge to the children, informing Malacanth that some keys that had found their way into the boy's possession were able to summon Celestial Spirits. However Malacanth had to learn how to use them on his own. The elderly man taught Rosencrantz a magic called Urumi. After collecting themselves up at the beach, the trio set off, with no destination in mind.
Their journey brought them to Fiorano. A local man named Illiad Odyssey invited them to his mage's guild, Dragon Maw. It would provide them good money for work. The twins more or less jumped on the opportunity.
The old man seemed intent on heading off on his own. Before parting ways, however, the old man wanted to refine Rosencrantz's knowledge of Urumi. For this lesson, the elderly man challenged Rosencrantz to a spar. Eagerly, Rosencrantz obliged the geriatric and began to fight. They had taken the fight away from Malacanth, who was unaware the sparring was taking place.
The old man crushed a rock as he threw it at Rosencrantz, of which a shard cut into his left cheek, just below his eye. The boy reacted irrationally explosive, throwing himself at his teacher, slamming his fists blindly at him. He also cut the geriatric at least a hundred times magically.
Malacanth never discovered the old man's fate.

before I edit, just some things I'd like to address

disfigurement: "Just above his left eye, Rosencrantz bears the mark of an upside-down star, which he has had since his birth." -Appearance description

obsession: "Almost like a schizophrenic, Rosencrantz struggles with a feeling that his shortcomings are insurmountable, and that he may ultimately prove to be nothing more than a grunt soldier remaining unmentioned throughout all records of the future history books." - Personality (ya doesn't sound like he obsesses over it, but he do)

in this, I was only told I couldn't use Dark Ecriture =/ http://www.natsudragneel.com/t3960-gallent-bridge-reclaim#25462

To mee the scar seems more like a brand.

" You have a visible major disfigurement."

Google major disfigurement and you'll see what counts more like a disfigurement.

As for obsession, state that he's obsessed with it to make it more clear.

Also Crash is banned, if it was allowed to be used Zane would of stated so.
