II. APPEARANCE

Height: 6'
Weight: 170lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eyes: Blue
General Appearance: Vincent stands at six feet even with a slender, athletic build. He lacks any sort of fat on his body, being extremely lean and and taught. He has loose, flowing hair the color of the noon sun with a middle part. For attire we'll start from the bottom and make our way up. On his feet are navy blue boots that go up to about mid calf made of dyed leather. From there he wears beige, straight pants with the ends tucked into the boots. A simple cerulean belt with a silver clasp helps keeps his britches from dropping in awkward situations. From there we move onto his shirt which is a white button up dress shirt with a navy blue vest covering it. Around his neck Vincent wears a billowing white, scarf-esq tie which usually tucked into the navy blue vest. Over all of this he wears a matching cerulean overcoat that falls just above the knee and is usually left open unless in particularly cold climates. Finally, for the piece de resistance, Vincent's hat. A large, navy blue top hat adorns the young man's head with goggles resting on the brim that he sometimes wears when using his magic (both for aesthetics and to keep debris out of his eyes. The final product is an old Victorian London/steam punk look that had a love affair with a pirate's closet, thus resulting in Vincent.
Extra: Vincent possesses a noticeable scar on his left eye that stretches from his forehead to the middle of his cheek and back to his ear. The scar itself is simply dead skin, it is a very old scar and is no longer pink but simply scratched up and appears wrinkled even. It is still blatantly obvious even with years to heal.

III. PERSONALITY

Personality: The main point to get across about Vincent, before talking about anything else is his absolute disdain for the feline species. There's no traumatic experience or hidden story to go along with this hatred of cats he simply despises them. Vincent finds felines to be the most selfish, annoying, and laziest species on the planet. It doesn't help that he's also horribly allergic to the beasts. Within seconds the poor guy is clogged up and sneezing. With Vincent's particular magic, his sneezes are even stronger than most, blowing away books, and knocking over dishes and filled cups right in front of him. Now then, with that little aspect of Vincent's personality out of the way, let's move on.

Vincent is a scrappy S.O.B., he loves challenges and getting his hands dirty. Dangerous adventures only excite him; some people call this a death wish, but really he's just an insane adrenaline junky. Vincent is anything but discreet; loud, bold, and in your face are all just the tip of the iceberg with this one. He won't back down from a fight, regardless of the opponent or how absolutely suicidal the situation might be. Deep down some might think he's trying to prove himself for some reason, and they might be right...or he might just be nuts, who knows? He's also innately curious, dangerously so in fact. The expression "curiosity killed the cat" clearly didn't stick with this one. He always wants to explore new paths and learn new secrets, regardless of the hazards to his health these curiosities might permit.

Unfortunately, Vincent also possesses a disabling fear. His claustrophobia, though not known by many, will leave him in a sniveling heap if he's presented with a tight space and no room to move his body. This extends as far as large crowds in small areas. Although less crippling, Vincent will immediately be stricken with anxiety and possible panic attacks when in large, tight crowds. The guy needs his space, plain and simple. One thing he ironically hates in people is arrogance. This is ironic because when a challenge is presented, Vincent is the first one to boast about how he'll take it on. Yet what he hates even more than arrogance is a quitter. If someone is weak but willing to improve themselves, Vincent will do everything in his power to support and help that person. The second they give up, he adds them to his shit list.

Motivations: (What drives your character?)
Fears:

  • Tight spaces (claustrophobia)
  • Hurting those he cares about

Positive Traits:

  • Diligent (+2): Your meticulousness allows you to analyze minute details that others miss.
Explanation:Reduces training cost of spells by 10% in word cost.

  • Fortitude (+3): You are tougher than normal. You can take more hits than the regular Joe.
Explanation: Passive C Rank endurance buff.

  • Regeneration (+4): You heal very fast inside and outside of combat. Small cuts that go up to one inch deep are healed in the next post.
Explanation: C Rank damage healed every post.

  • Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move three times your normal speed.
Explanation: You have a passive C Rank speed buff at all times.

Negative Traits:

  • Allergies (-1): You are afflicted with allergies. These may be something as simple as hay fever, but the reactions to such will result in something like a huge bout of sneezing and gasping. You must mention this allergy in your character application.
Explanation: Whenever this allergy comes into play you must suffer the consequences. The allergy must be something that can actually come and not something strange and unique.

  • Bravado (-2): You are rash in combat, refusing to show weakness by falling back from your enemies' blows. You either face it and stop it, or get hit in the progress. In addition, you cannot fight defensively.
Explanation: You can't create any defensive spells. Offensive spells are made to inflict damage while defensive spells do not inflict any damage at all and are made to prevent damage.

  • Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations.

  • Daredevil (-2): You only really feel alive when you're staring death in the face. Your character is addicted to the thrill of death-defying stunts, pushing themselves to the limit at every available opportunity.
Explanation: You can't refuse the opportunity of engaging into combat with anyone or anything that is stronger than you. You also always volunteer and perform tasks that have a risk attached to them when you are in a group.

  • Derangement/Insanity (-3): Due to circumstances beyond your control, you are permanently insane. You may have a congenital brain disorder, or perhaps you saw something mortals were never intended to lay eyes upon, and it drove you mad. Choose a Derangement/Insanity for your character from the lists below. Though the list is by no means exhaustive, the following options are ones that have been presented in game terms and that have definable--and most times numerical--penalties.

    • Phobia: A character afflicted by a phobia persistently fears a particular object or situation. She realizes that the fear is excessive and irrational, but the fear is disturbing enough that she avoids the stimulus.
Explanation: Character is unable to face anything that has it's fear. If you're afraid of spiders and someone uses spider magic, you flee.

  • Disfigurement (-2): A hideous disfigurement makes you ugly and easy to notice and easy to remember. Whatever your particular choice of disfigurement, it has to be something blatantly obvious to a casual glance. In addition, as it is a birth deformity, it cannot be healed, though you could employ magics to cover it via illusions in some instances, and perhaps utilize high level magics to transform yourself into a more pleasing form for the duration, though you'll always have the lingering fear of it being dispelled.
Explanation: You have a visible major disfigurement.

  • Intolerance (-1): You have an irrational dislike of a certain thing. It may be an animal, a class of person, a situation, or just about anything at all. Note that some dislikes may be too trivial or ridiculous to count--a dislike of Bavarian-crème-filled donuts or mechanical pencils, for example, has no real dramatic value and will not be allowed.
Explanation: You must act very disgusted and displeased when your dislike comes into play.

IV. MAGIC

Magic: Blast Magic
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description: This magic allows the user to generate explosions within varying distances of his/herself. The user must make a movement towards the area he/she wants to explode. This usually comes in the form of a snap, or hand movement of some sort. Explosion size, power and distance from the mage vary with rank and experience as most magic does.
Strengths: Blast magic is used to generate explosions anywhere within the user's capabilities. The user can designate what direction the explosion flows so they can propel things rather than just destroy them; this occurs in the form of shockwaves.
Weaknesses: With great power comes great responsibility. Blast magic is highly destructive and as such destroys indiscriminately. The user cannot control the blasts to harm only enemies and not teammates. As such, he/she must be very careful when working with others and his/her magic makes it nearly impossible to carry out stealth or discrete missions.

V. HISTORY

History: Vincent was raised in an abusive household. As a child his father was a cruel man who beat Vincent and his mother regularly for trivial matters. One particular punishment for Vincent, his most dreaded, was when his father would lock him in the tiny sub-closet within his closet. At the age of ten, the closet wasn't big enough for Vincent to stand in or lay down, he could only sit with his legs curled up to his chest and his only companion the all-consuming darkness around him. His father would leave him in there for hours, sometimes forgetting about him all together and going to bed for the night. It was in this sub-closet that Vincent's anger began to manifest into his magical abilities. On one particular day, after a very severe beating over a glass of spilled milk, Vincent's father dragged him up to the closet. Vincent, kicking and screaming, begging not to be put back in there, was thrown forcefully in but as his father went to lock the door, Vincent let loose all of his bottled up anger and aggression. As a result, the door exploded violently between the door, sending them both flying backwards. Vincent's left eye was severely damaged, particularly the skin around it. After some time it would heal later in his life and be fully functional.

With his father bleeding on the hallway floor, Vincent fled. His mother begged him not to go because his father would only beat her more. Seeing the absolute defeat in his mother's heart, Vincent abandoned her in the house. He couldn't help her if she had already quit on them both. For years he traveled around as a street urchin. He would take odd jobs where he could for money. Every day he would train, both his body and his magic. He would pick fights with larger boys just to harden himself and be more resilient to pain. It wasn't until his seventeenth birthday that he felt confident enough in his magical ability to attempt to join a guild. Naturally he sought out what many called the toughest guild in all of Earthland, Sabertooth. It was here that he found his new family, a family that wouldn't beat him or quit on him. A place he could go to feel accepted and even challenged instead of treated like trash. Vincent never found out whether his father had survived the explosion or not. That day he had never meant to harm his father, just scare him off so he would stop the beating. It's for this reason that Vincent is so careful and pensive about using his magic around friends. If he should ever harm a friend accidentally, it would absolutely devastate him. His scar is a constant reminder to him of just how careful he must be with his magic.
