However, until very recently, this world did not possess any magical energy at all. Thus, while Fairyland was culturally and scientifically similar to Earthland, the concept of magic was found only in children’s stories. This changed when a powerful mage accidentally created a portal to Fairyland, allowing individuals to travel to the alternate reality, if they chose to.

All kinds of people passed through the portal—bright-eyed youths, lusting for adventure; arcane missionaries, eager to share the gift of magic; ambitious conquerors, scrambling to claim possession of this uncharted frontier. Unsurprisingly, the inhabitants of Fairyland greeted the Earthlanders with a broad range of responses. Some were warm and friendly, awed by the foreigners’ strange powers. Others were suspicious of the sorcery, but regardless of the warmth of the Fairylanders’ welcome, an irreversible change had begun to warp their world, from the first moment that the portal opened.

When the connection was established, Earthland’s aether immediately began to trickle into Fairyland, like water flowing into an empty vessel. The energy flow is slow, and to this day, two years later, Fairyland’s atmosphere is still not as magically charged as that of Earthland’s and is not currently capable of moving anyone “against the current”, back to Earthland. For the time being, the journey to Fairyland is permanent, but in theory, traveling to Earthland should eventually be possible.
In the meantime, Fairyland has blossomed.With most older and more experienced mages remaining behind in Earthland, Fairyland has become the stage and the arena for all young mages and guilds. This age belongs not just to the Promethean Earthlanders who brought magic to Fairyland, but to the Fairylanders as well, as with magic in the air, they’ve started to realize their own magical potential...

In just a couple of years, the presence of magic has already transformed the world greatly, for better or for worse—this is a glorious age to live in, the likes of which have never been seen before, and are not likely to be seen again, more breathtaking, more wondrous than any industrial revolution, for this is Fairyland’s magical revolution.[/quote]
