II. APPEARANCE

Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 95 lbs
Hair: Red
Eyes: Green
General Appearance:
The most commented-on part of Sera is undoubtedly her small size. She’s a bit shorter than average, though not much. What’s more noteworthy is that she seems nearly inhumanly skinny. What’s so odd about it is that she isn’t skin and bones either. Her frame is simply smaller than that of most people. As expected with that being the case, there isn’t that much fat on her. She’s far from a bodybuilder, but she’s decently curvy. Honestly, most people tend to know one person like this. Proportionally, everything is correct, but she just seems small. Of course, this leaves her womanly assets a bit lacking compared to some of the obscenely proportioned females wandering around. Still, her breasts come in at C cups, and she has ample junk in the trunk to boot.

Beyond her small stature, the next thing people tend to notice is her hair. Dark-red twin-tails down to her mid-back, it definitely grabs people’s attention. “Is it natural?” Yup. Most people don’t believe it, but that’s the hair color she was born with, and there isn’t a drop of dye in it. Many of the same comments get tossed around about her eyes, and their deep green hue is just as natural. Of course, not everything about her is exceptional. Her white skin doesn’t really stand out in a crowd, though her glasses do mark her as a bit different. Another minor trait that stands out is her teeth. For most, their teeth are perfectly flat, perfect for mashing up plants and the like. Sera’s incisors are borderline vampiric, each of them coming to a sharp point. However, they don’t stick out of her mouth or anything. These fangs are small enough to stay within her lips, yet large enough to get a double take if she flashes a smile.

A few other small details make up a good deal of how people perceive Sera. Speaking of makeup, she hardly wears any. Most days, it’ll just be lip gloss. Even that, she only wears because it’s moisturizing. She doesn't really need anything else though. Luckily, she's been blessed with smooth, clear skin. If you manage to get past the surface details, you’ll probably notice that her face is in one of two states. If she’s not preoccupied by her work, then her face often shows a calm, confident smile. All things considered, she’s content with her life. That shows clearly through the sense of general satisfaction with life that radiates from her when she’s in a good mood. However, if she’s busy with her work, and you’re dumb enough to interrupt her, you’ll likely catch a look cold enough to chill you to the bone.

Most of the time, Sera tends to wear a rather plain yet flattering outfit. Her upper body is covered with a lilac tank top that's a size too small. It leaves her belly exposed, and doesn't really leave much to the imagination. As for her lower body, she's covered by a pair of white slacks. While these are the right size, they're also a slim fit. As a result, her form isn't hidden very much. Matching the lack of makeup, her accessories only number two most of the time. A red belt gives her pants a splash of color, and matching glasses frame her eyes.

III. PERSONALITY

Personality:
When you first get to know Sera, you might mistakenly think she comes from money. That assumption couldn't be farther from the truth, but the vibes Sera gives off definitely support that hypothesis. Approaching her is tricky, especially for men. If you try a pickup line on her, you'll be lucky if she just ignores you. Catch her in a bad mood and you'll either end up getting an earful or even a slap depending on how bad she felt your line was. It's not that she's a mean person. No, she simply sees things like pickup lines as disrespectful.

If you take the time to get to know her, then you'll realize that there's a lot more to Sera than that first impression. Hidden behind that initial disrespect is someone with a wealth of knowledge. Her knowledge is mostly within the social sciences. She watches people often, and not because she likes laughing when they do something silly. Instead, she watches them to learn about that given individual, the group they are in, and society as a whole. Because of this habit, Sera is fairly knowledgeable about people in general. This in turn makes for fairly interesting conversations. She's got enough knowledge to discuss almost any topic with a degree of intelligence. If you can do the same, you'll have found a friend quite quickly.

As is the case with many people, Sera is fiercely loyal to the friends she does have. Due to her not remembering her past, she doesn't have a whole lot to give her comfort. That's part of why she studies people as much as she does. Observing from the sidelines is... safe. Preferential even to that, is the company of a true friend. They can make her forget about the pain of not knowing her past, or the worse pain of remembering it. All she asks from her friends is mutual respect. They don't need to share her interests, or have gone out of their way for her. Simply showing Sera respect, and not treating her like a piece of meat, is all it takes to stay on her good side.

Likes:

  • Research - The cornerstone of society is knowledge, and research is the foundation of knowledge. Those who disregard the importance of basic research are uncivilized barbarians.
  • Coffee - There are only so many hours in the day, and coffee is the miracle drink that makes you not care you only spent 4 of those hours asleep.
  • Classical Music – Few things can match the technical complexity of well-written classical music.
  • Gentlemen – Sure, it’s nice that most guys are bottom dwelling perverts that let a good looking girl get away with anything she wants… but only those men who actually treat Sera with respect have any chance of buying her a drink.

Dislikes:

  • War - Of all the things humanity has invented, this one ranks the lowest in Sera's book. Yeah, sure, it drives technology forward, but we could accomplish that all the same if we just poured all of the defense budget into R&D.
  • Niceties - No one really cares how your day was, so why do we always have to ask? What's the point of saying hello to someone you don't even like? If only it was socially acceptable to be antisocial.
  • Fake Intellectuals - Many people claim to love things like arts, science, or literature, and then you ask them what the last book they read was and they say something you know was on a required reading list growing up. Ugh. These people just need to go away.
  • Her Body - Sera isn't exactly a fan of how she looks. Her body makes her the center of attention for all the wrong reasons. Yes, she's tiny. Yes, she has boobs. Yes, her hair is red. Why does any of that matter anyway?

Motivations:

  • Knowledge - It's the core of civilized society, and you can get more of it from just about anything you do. While Sera generally gains most of her info from reading, the desire for knowledge is also her primary reason for talking to people.
  • Companionship - When your past is all a blur, going through life alone is hard. Yeah, Sera can keep herself occupied with her research, but at the end of the day she just wants someone to unwind with. This could be guildmates, friends, or even a lover, but Sera just doesn't want to face the world alone. That being said, she doesn't want a handout or friendships based on pity. Rather, she wants to surround herself with equals.

Fears:

  • Powerlessness - As it stands, Sera is a bit more powerful than the average human, but that says nothing about all the more powerful wizards and fighters out there. There are plenty of those who could take advantage of her in ways she'd really rather not think about. Deep down, this fear is a motivating factor in many of her decisions.
  • Abandonment - Sera values her friendships a great deal, and being permanently abandoned by her close friends would destroy her completely. This is one of those things that's often in the back of her mind. It's not oppressive, but it's that nagging little doubt that occasionally pops up.

Positive Traits: (+16)

  • Acrobatic (+3): You have excellent body awareness and coordination.
  • Agile (+3): You are particularly flexible and poised.
  • Alertness (+2): You have finely tuned senses.
  • Diligent (+2): Your meticulousness allows you to analyze minute
    details that others miss.
  • Enhanced Strength (+3): Your character is slightly stronger than other characters when it comes to physical strength.
  • Fortitude (+3): You are tougher than normal. You can take more hits than the regular Joe.

Negative Traits: (-16)

  • Allergies - pet dander (-1): You are afflicted with allergies. These may be something as simple as hay fever, but the reactions to such will result in something like a huge bout of sneezing and gasping. You must mention this allergy in your character application.
Explanation: Whenever this allergy comes into play you must suffer the consequences. The allergy must be something that can actually come and not something strange and unique.
  • Amnesia (-1): You are unable to remember anything about your past, yourself, or your family. Your life is a blank slate. However, your past may someday come back to haunt you. The rest of the flaws you pick are unknown to your character; over the course of your progress, your character will slowly discover them.
Explanation: You can't refer to anything about your past. The rest of your flaws or not nulled by this characteristic but rather unknown to your character.
  • Compulsive Honesty (-2): You cannot tell a lie, nor can you behave in a deceitful fashion. You tend to be blunt rather than tactful, even if it means insulting someone who you and your companions are trying to impress.
Explanation: You can't lie and you will tell the truth when someone asks you something instead of lying. So if your team is impressing an ogre and the ogre asks if you guys are truly from the guild you guys claimed you were and lied about it, you will screw it up and say the truth.
  • Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations.
  • Daredevil (-2): You only really feel alive when you're staring death in the face. Your character is addicted to the thrill of death-defying stunts, pushing themselves to the limit at every available opportunity.
Explanation: You can't refuse the opportunity of engaging into combat with anyone or anything that is stronger than you. You also always volunteer and perform tasks that have a risk attached to them when you are in a group.
  • Dark Secret - Former Escort(-1): You have some sort of secret
that, if revealed, would make you an outcast amongst your society and companions. While this secret is on your mind at all times, it will come up in topics only once in a while, but when it does, watch out!
Explanation: You must think about your dark secret at least one out of ten posts. When things that are relevant to the dark secret are brought up you can't stop thinking about it.
  • Extravagant (-2): You enjoy living in the lap of luxury. Ale is never good enough if you can get fine wine instead. You aren't happy with anything less than the finest room in the inn. In addition, any equipment or services you purchase cost 10% more than the standard rate for the locale you are currently in. The best of the best always costs more, after all.
Explanation: You will always pay 10% more when purchasing something.
  • Greedy (-1): Money makes your eyes light up with joy. The more, the merrier, as long as it spends. Once in a while, whenever you're divvying up shares of the loot, being offered a hefty bribe, or catching wind of some fabulous treasure, the flaw can to convince you to grab for as much money as possible.
Explanation: You may act differently when money comes into play.
  • Harbinger of Ill Omen (-1): You seem to be cursed to forever bump into a specific person, time and time again. Each time you do, something bad happens not long afterward. This person in no way does this purposefully, it just happens with alarming frequency.
Explanation: You will have character assigned to you by roleplay department of staff who will enter you threads randomly from time to time. When this happens, staff will change the conditions of your thread against you. Such as heavy storm, avalanches or beasts catching onto your smell.
  • Intolerance - Unsophisticated Men(-1): You have an irrational dislike of a certain thing. It may be an animal, a class of person, a situation, or just about anything at all. Note that some dislikes may be too trivial or ridiculous to count--a dislike of Bavarian-crème-filled donuts or mechanical pencils, for example, has no real dramatic value and will not be allowed.
Explanation: You must act very disgusted and displeased when your dislike comes into play.
  • Judgmental (-1): You form opinions quickly and change them very slowly. You also have a tendency to judge people on their appearance. A man dressed as a pirate, no matter how gentlemanly, is a scoundrel and a dog as far as you is concerned. A man covered in mud is a peasant, and a woman wearing revealing clothing is a prostitute.
Explanation: You must act very disgusted and displeased when your dislike comes into play.
  • Proud (-1): You don't like accepting help from others. If a gift or offer of aid smacks of charity or pity even the slightest bit, you grow indignant and refuse it.
  • Righteous (-1): The end justifies the means. You are willing to perform morally repugnant actions in order to achieve noble goals. Unfortunately, this can alienate those people who might support your cause if you didn't use such heavy-handed methods.

IV. MAGIC

Magic: Frost Dragon Slayer Magic
Caster or Holder: Caster
Description: Frost Dragon Slayer Magic allows its user to transform the physiology of their body into that of a Frost Dragon. Consequently, this Magic allows the user to both produce and control Ice from any part of their body, which can be used in both close and ranged combat.
Strengths: The user can produce and control Ice from any part of their body, which can be used in both close and ranged combat, such as coating their arms and legs to increase strength and agility or provide defense. If the user uses a weapon, she can also imbue the weapon with Ice, powering it up. The user can consume Ice to replenish her stamina.

Weaknesses: If the user tries to ingest Ice that is cast by a Mage of higher rank than the ice that the user can produce, then the user will be damaged, rather than healed. Frost Dragon Slayer Magic is the natural enemy of Earth Magic. If two users of these magics were to battle, then the result would be determined by the strength of each user. Either the ice will pierce through the earth, or the earth will shatter the ice. Fire magic is strong against Ice, causing the ice to melt and become an ineffective attack, even if the ice spell is marginally stronger. However, in cases where the ice spell is stronger, it can still melt into water and put out the flames... but that still only results in a tie instead of a win. Only in cases of an extreme difference (A class vs D class for example) can ice magic overpower fire magic.

V. HISTORY

History:
Not every story gets to be a happy one. Many tales are full of hardship and strife. The life story of Seraphina Flynn is no exception. Born the daughter of a jeweler, she had it rough from day one. Complications from childbirth led to the death of Sera’s mother shortly after the child was born. With that life gone from the world, Bradan Flynn, her father, was left alone to raise a child.

As could be expected, a single father didn’t lend to Sera having an ideal environment to grow up in.  Bradan was a bit of a workaholic. His jewelry store was open from sunrise until after sunset year-round, and that meant he had almost no time for his daughter. Sure, he had help at the store, but he could never leave it entirely to them. And so Sera spent a great deal of time by herself. Because of this, she picked up reading at an early age. Her father taught her a bit at night, and she seemed to have a knack for it. By the time she was six, she was comfortably reading on her own most days.

Things were fairly rough, but they were manageable for most of Sera’s early childhood. She was fairly self-sufficient growing up, and she even learned a good deal about her father’s business as she grew older.  Sadly, that meant she also learned about the difficulties he was facing. Early in adolescence, Sera overheard a conversation between her father and a few other men at the store. She couldn’t make out everything, but she heard enough to know her father owed them a lot of money… and these men didn’t sound too happy about it. As time passed, those men starting showing up more and more often. Sometimes they yelled. Other times they broke things. Her father always said not to worry about it, but that advice was something Sera wishes she could have ignored without consequence.

Eventually, it seemed that the men had had enough of her father being behind in payments. They killed him for it, right in front of Sera. Without hesitation, they spoke to her. “Everything in this shop belongs to us now, and that includes you.” Those words were ones that haunted Sera for a long time. She was only 16, but she was thrown into servitude to pay off her father’s debts all the same. No matter how long she worked, it was clear that her debt would never be lifted. The first two years of her servitude were relatively tolerable. The thugs realized that she was most useful in managing the jewelry store, since she’d already learned most everything about it from her father.

By now, you’ve probably noticed the trend. Things got worse again when Sera hit 18. She’d lost her father and her freedom, but once she turned 18 she lost her dignity.  The thugs forced Sera into a new line of work, and she was far from happy with the change. While Escort is a title that can sound dignified on paper, this work had nothing to do with ensuring the safety of travelling merchants. Somehow, Sera managed to put up with this for a year. Shortly after she turned 19, she’d quite simply had enough.

After gathering up the few things she had to her name, Sera left behind her hometown of Oak. She made into the wilderness, not having a real direction in mind. Without any real wilderness survival skills or preparation, things only continued to go south for Sera. Before long, she was on the verge of death. Her mind and body were in ruins, and she’d somehow ended up at the base of a mountain. At the time, she was barely able to understand what was happening, but there’s one image that’ll never leave her mind: a dragon, blue as the sky, had landed before her.

That was the beginning of her time with Blizzander. The Frost Dragon took pity on Sera. She was practically dead, and her mind had been so strained by the ordeal that her memories were gone. And so Blizzander taught Sera Dragon Slayer Magic, in hopes that she might be able to make the best of the life that he had saved. After many months of study in the wilderness, it was clear that Sera had learned enough, and recovered enough, that it was time for her to venture back into society. With Blizzander’s blessing, she left for Clover, where she joined the mage’s guild Lamia Scale.

And that friends, is where a new chapter of Sera’s story begins.
