II. APPEARANCE

Height: 180cm (5'11)
Weight: 176lb (79kg)
Hair: Blonde.
Eyes: Lilac.
General Appearance: A well built man of twenty five, Edward Henderson is the very picture of a sophisticated and charismatic gentleman in the prime of his life. In keeping with his strict and organized lifestyle, Edward neatly combs his hair every single day, and generally wears it like that, especially when he is dealing with those who could be considered in 'high society'. First and foremost though, Edward knows that he is a Rune Knight, and is willing to get down and dirty when the situation calls for it. When he is on duty, he slicks his blonde hair all the way back, as to avoid it getting in his way during a battle. When he isn't on duty, Edward can generally be seen in classy attire, sporting a long, white over cloak or a suit of some sorts. He is almost always seen in official Rune Knight garb though, believing that wearing it will earn him looks of admiration from everyone he passes.
Extra: N/A

III. PERSONALITY

Personality: A third generation Rune Knight, Edward is the kind of person that values his own honor over everything else. Despite being a calculating and master tactician, Edward is the kind of person that loves excitement, sometimes even preferring to choose the most interesting choice over the wisest choice, even if it puts others in harm's way. Despite that, he will never intentionally put others in dangerous situations unless his hand is forced, because the ends will always justify the means in Edward's mind. Incredibly overzealous in his beliefs, Edward is quick to judge, but slow to change his opinion, and it will require serious effort and time to convince him of something once he is set in his ways. Another big vocal point of Edward's personality is his charisma. Despite appearing to be an average aristocratic, almost condescending man, Edward is in actuality, quite an aloof and cold individual, preferring his own company to that of others. However, he maintains a fake and charming image for the public eye, using his natural charisma to hide his seemingly apathetic nature.

All in all, Edward is a complicated man to understand. He takes criticism quite badly, although he won't directly show it. This goes for whenever he is angry. Rather than showing his anger at that exact moment, he prefers to keep it inside until later and then just release all the pent up anger he had built inside him. He realizes this is unhealthy, but would rather not tarnish his image as a well behaved gentleman. When it comes to dealing with criminals, Edward is aware that not every single person he apprehends will be guilty of his charge, but he doesn't really care about stuff like that. Edward's logic dictates that if a crime has been committed, someone has to be held responsible. As a analytical thinker, Edward is a person who desires certainty, which could ultimately lead to his downfall. In Edward's ideal world, if there are two suspects, he would rather have them both arrested, rather than be forced to choose between one, in fear of choosing wrong.

  • Justice

Dislikes:

  • Criminals
  • Dark Guilds
  • Eggplant
  • People

Motivations:

  • Absolute Justice - As a member of the Rune Knights, Edward has sworn to uphold the Rune Knight's concept of justice. However, Edward himself has his own idea of what justice means to him and strives to achieve a high rank in the RK in order to make a difference.
  • To See the World - Before joining the Rune Knights, Edward had taken a tour of Fiore, but he knows that outside of Fiore, there are even more majestic sights to see. Once he's retired and lived a fulfilling career, he would like to continue to travel.

Fears:

  • Being Killed - After witnessing his father and grandfather's murders, Edward has picked up a phobia of being killed. By being killed, he means being killed by another person. He's not afraid of dying in itself, not minding a natural death.
  • Uncertainty - As stated before, Edward is the kind of man that likes to have it all planned out. If something goes awry in his plans, Edward may not be able to keep his composure depending on how badly he had messed up in his calculations.

Positive Traits:

  • Alertness (+2): You have finely tuned senses.
  • Blind-Fight (+4): You know how to fight in melee without being able to see your foes.
  • Daunting Presence (+2): You are skilled at inducing fear in your opponents.
  • Deceitful (+2): You have a knack for disguising the truth. Your lies are difficult to distinguish from the truth.
  • High Society (+2): You know good manners and were trained to handle social interactions in noble circles. This is useful in requests involving members of the highest levels of society, such as monarchs, nobles, courtiers, lords and ladies, and high-ranking clerics.
  • Persuasive (+2): You have a way with words and body language. Somehow you manage to persuade weaker minded people easily.
  • Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move three times your normal speed.

Negative Traits:

  • Ambitious (-1): You crave power. Money is nice, but being in charge of other people is your favorite thing. You are likely to be brought down by attempting a risky grab for power and failing. Even when deals are risky you will give in and agree most of times.
Explanation: You will attempt to overthrow friends or foes alike when the opportunity rises regardless if it seems like it's not possible.
  • Arrogant (-1): You firmly believe that you are better than anyone else is. Your ideas are the best, your clothes are the most stylish, and you have to let everyone else know how much better you are. Once in a while you openly show contempt or disdain for someone else.
Explanation: You must at least act arrogant one out of five posts.
  • Cruel (-1): You have a sadistic streak that causes you to perform acts of cruelty for no good reason. Of course, this doesn't endear you to others. Most times you are prudent enough to carry out your cruelties on those under your thumb, rather than those you see as equals. However, you carry a constant social stigma, as rumors have their way of getting around.
Explanation: You must perform an act of cruelty one out of five posts.
  • Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense. This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
Explanation: You will walk deeper into the forest you have never been before. You won't turn around from the castle that you have never seen. This can result into getting you into very dangerous situations.
  • Dark Secret (-1): You have some sort of secret that, if revealed, would make you an outcast amongst your society and companions. While this secret is on your mind at all times, it will come up in topics only once in a while, but when it does, watch out! (Father and Grandfather were traitors)
Explanation: You must think about your dark secret at least one out of ten posts. When things that are relevant to the dark secret are brought up you can't stop thinking about it.
  • Derangement/Insanity (-3): Due to circumstances beyond your control, you are permanently insane. You may have a congenital brain disorder, or perhaps you saw something mortals were never intended to lay eyes upon, and it drove you mad. Choose a Derangement/Insanity for your character from the lists below. Though the list is by no means exhaustive, the following options are ones that have been presented in game terms and that have definable--and most times numerical--penalties. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: This illness manifests in one of two main forms, obsessive thoughts or compulsive actions; some characters exhibit both.
  • Greedy (-1): Money makes your eyes light up with joy. The more, the merrier, as long as it spends. Once in a while, whenever you're divvying up shares of the loot, being offered a hefty bribe, or catching wind of some fabulous treasure, the flaw can to convince you to grab for as much money as possible.
Explanation: You may act differently when money comes into play.
  • Intolerance (-1): You have an irrational dislike of a certain thing. It may be an animal, a class of person, a situation, or just about anything at all. Note that some dislikes may be too trivial or ridiculous to count--a dislike of Bavarian-crème-filled donuts or mechanical pencils, for example, has no real dramatic value and will not be allowed.
Explanation: You must act very disgusted and displeased when your dislike comes into play. (Criminals)
  • Judgmental (-1): You form opinions quickly and change them very slowly. You also have a tendency to judge people on their appearance. A man dressed as a pirate, no matter how gentlemanly, is a scoundrel and a dog as far as you is concerned. A man covered in mud is a peasant, and a woman wearing revealing clothing is a prostitute.
Explanation: You must act very disgusted and displeased when your dislike comes into play.
  • Overzealous (-1): You are incapable of having a weak opinion. Everything you believe, you believe as if your life depended on it. Everything you don't believe in, you hate with a passion.
Once in a while your flaw gets you to strongly defend one of your opinions, no matter how inappropriate the time and place, nor what the circumstances of such an outburst may be.
  • Righteous (-1): The end justifies the means. You are willing to perform morally repugnant actions in order to achieve noble goals. Unfortunately, this can alienate those people who might support your cause if you didn't use such heavy-handed methods.
  • Proud (-1): You don't like accepting help from others. If a gift or offer of aid smacks of charity or pity even the slightest bit, you grow indignant and refuse it.
  • Star-crossed (-1): You keep falling in love with the wrong people. You're the common soldier who falls in love with the king's daughter at first sight, or the hero who falls for the villain's daughter without knowing who she is.
  • Misfortunate (-1): Lucky breaks are something that happen to other people. Your luck isn't terrible; you wouldn't have survived as long as you have if it were. It just isn't very good. Look at it this way: if you need some blind luck to get you out of a sticky situation, expect to be sticking around for a while.
  • Reckless (-1): You lack the emotion of fear. Unfortunately, it is often an important cue that keeps men from doing foolhardy things. Sure, you don't flinch at the sight of even the most hideous monster, but neither do you feel the need to run away when outclassed.

IV. MAGIC

Magic: Hollow Soul
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description: Hollow Soul magic is a holder type magic. The user manifests their magical energy using a medium (in Edward's case, a katana) in order to do battle. ie. shooting out beams from the tip of his sword, buffs, etc.
Strengths: Even when the user has run out of MP, he can continue to battle with just his holder weapon. Hollow Soul is not an elemental magic, therefore it is not elementally inferior to any other type of magic, nor can the energy produced from the sword be consumed by a Dragon or God Slayer.
Weaknesses: Being non elemental is a double edged sword, as Hollow Soul does not have any advantages over any other type of magic. It is a holder magic, so if the user was to somehow lose or have his holder weapon taken from him, he wouldn't be able to defend himself. Buffs are only active while the user is physically in contact with his sword.

V. HISTORY

History: Edward was the 3rd son of the Henderson family with two older brothers and two younger sisters. His two older brothers, Jay and Bobb would of course group together while his two younger sisters Dahlia and Persia would group together also, leaving Edward the odd one out. Due to this, Edward would often follow his father around, becoming incredibly interested in the affairs of law enforcement, deciding that he too would one day become a Rune Knight. At first, things were good, but after Edward's mother died due to a terminal illness, things only got worse. His father, Edward Sr, was absolutely heartbroken and began to not only neglect his children, but also his work, and was soon laid off.

After getting over the passing of his late wife, Edward Sr attempted to get his job back as a Rune Knight, but was unable to do so. Desperately needing money, Edward Sr joined a gang, a 'brotherhood' of sorts. As a former Rune Knight, his services proved more than useful. Not wanting his children to get caught up in this, he sent them all to live with his father, their grandfather in Magnolia. During a visit, Jay found out about his father's dealing and cut off ties from the family completely, much to Edward's confusion. After Edward's grandfather found out about his son's connections to the underground, the two of them confronted each other. It turned out to be an ambush. The members of the 'Brotherhood' decided that Edward Sr had already overstayed his usefulness and was brutally killed right there, along with his father as he was a witness. Edward, who was hiding in the closet at the time witnessed the whole thing.

Still a young boy, Edward immediately told his only brother, Bobb, of what had happened. Bobb, a vengeful yet kindred spirit was livid and immediately marched out to avenge his father and grandfather. Bobb instructed Edward to stay at home to mind his two sisters. A few days later, a package was sent to Edward's house, containing a small letter and Bobb's head. Edward burned them both and simply lied to his sisters, saying that Bobb had gone somewhere and would be back soon. Up until the age of 21, Edward raised his younger sisters by himself, consistently moving house in fear that the Brotherhood would come after the three of them. However, recently after Edward turned 22, he bumped into Jay on the street. Jay, who was much more lighthearted than Bobb, listened to Edward completely and agreed to take care of Persia and Dahlia, having made a home for himself in Hargeon. With his father, grandfather and eldest brother lying 6 foot under and his two young sisters and older brother living peacefully in Hargeon, Edward realized he was no longer bound to anybody. He immediately set off for Era, determined to create his own legacy.
