Adalee Parris
Captain Adalee Parris Lucina_Awakening_zps362ea1b4

 __________________________________________________

Name(s): Adalee Parris
Nickname(s): Captain, Ada, Addie
Age: 23
Sex: Female
Birthday: 23 October x756
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Class: Cleric
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Rank: A
Guild: Rune Knights
Guild Tattoo: Back (between shoulder blades) | Pink
Face Claim: Lucina - Fire Emblem Awakening

II. APPEARANCE

Height: 5’3” | 160 cm
Weight: 110 lbs | 50 kg
Hair: Indigo
Eyes: Blue
General Appearance: Adalee is a short statured young woman-- barely reaching three inches above five feet. Her body type is slender, which makes her look delicate, which is quite honestly, far from her situation. Despite her petite frame, Adalee can hold her own against many opponents-- as would be evidenced by the toned frame that lies beneath her clothing. Because of her stature, when she is next to her brother, Creed, she often gets mistaken for the younger sibling, despite her five year seniority.

When it comes to the details of her physical appearance, Adalee has often been defined as “pretty” (though many under her command would deny this fact). Her long hair, which reaches past her waist and is rather peculiar in hue-- depending on the light it can appear blue or purple, which often has it classified as “indigo”. Her bangs typically frame her face, and her long straight locks usually fall behind her back-- though when she pulls it back, the shorter layers in her hair fall forward to frame her fair-skinned, blue-eyed face.

When it comes to attire, on duty, Adalee is typically fully covered, opting for more masculine clothes garishly adorned with the magic council symbol, as she feels that it helps establish command, and are made for unrestricted movement. However, when it comes to being alone, and off the clock, her attire is typically much different: a fan of soft billowy, feminine dresses and skirts, often in pastel colors-- many do not recognize her, when she is dressed as a civilian.

Extra: N/A

III. PERSONALITY

Personality:
The first personality that people often see from Adalee, is her role as a captain. She often acts with rigidity and sternness while on the clock, and while representing the Rune Knights.  She takes her job seriously-- hyper aware that everything that she does is being judged as an extension of the organization. Similarly, she feels that she is constantly being judged by others (perhaps because she is constantly judging them). She consciously chooses to leave her femininity behind while interacting with others as a face of the Rune Knights, in an attempt to be branded as a stoic leader.

At work, Adalee expects the same commitment to the job and the organization that she herself gives-- anything less, she feels is unacceptable. This being said, she does not take well to excuses or people that slack on their work-- particularly if she does not trust the person in question. She is often bluntly honest about her feelings on these types of people. While these such comments are intended to better those underneath them-- mold them into better knights, it often comes back as unsympathetic and heartless. While neither would be traits that those closest to her would use to describe her, she accepts this reputation as a leader, thinking that it is an appropriate role as a Rune Knight Captain-- thinking that a standard of excellence will serve her troops well-- and unknowing how to be softer about it without being looked down on as a woman commander-- It is far better to let them be afraid, than to let them step all over you.

However, her personality, even on duty changes drastically when she respects and trusts those that she is dealing with. She is very clear that she has a circle of trust, and there are benefits from being in it. Far more caring, and protective, the young woman becomes less stubborn, and far more empathetic-- even searching for other's advice and criticism. At the end of the day, she is very critical of herself, identifying herself as weak, hoping to gain more power to better protect and serve those she finds important. As she becomes more comfortable with those in her command, this more maternal side typically emerges, and she is met with admiration-- it just takes some time to get there.

Behind the hardened exterior of stoic Rune Knight Captain, Adalee is very much a girly girl. Though this side is hidden to most, it would describe her inner most personality. She likes to be pampered, the color pink, picking flowers, wearing dresses-- feeling pretty. She wishes that these things didn't matter to her-- as she thinks that they're shallow and vapid-- but they do.

When Adalee is around her brother, occasionally she can occasionally act a bit immature-- often antagonizing and teasing him-- a trait she never fully grew out of.
Likes:

  • Training (particularly with her brother and dear friend, Darian)
  • Feeling Accomplished/Crossing things off her "to do list'
  • Pink and Purple
  • Flowing Dresses and Skirts and wearing makeup (off duty)
  • Small, fluffy animals
  • Flowers, and the prettier aspects of nature
  • Baking/Cooking
  • A long bath after a hard day's work

Dislikes:

  • People that make excuses
  • People that do not try their hardest
  • People that give up
  • Assumptions that women are weak/chauvinists
  • Feeling weak/inadequate
  • Spiders/Spiderwebs
  • Being Cold
  • Soup/Liquid-Based food

Motivations:

  • One of the ways that Adalee stays motivated is through friendly competition with her younger brother, Creed. Since she is older than him, she always wants to be stronger and better than him. A little friendly competition never hurt anybody.
  • Making the world a better place: Like many young women her age, Adalee often thinks of the day that she will be a wife and a mother, one of her goals is to make the world a better place for her future children to live. She feels this can be accomplished by serving the community-- finding that those who need to be punished, as determined by the laws (and herself) are set to justice.

Fears:

  • Spiders: she can’t stand those 8 legged freaks of nature, and will often make sure someone else deals with them so she doesn't have to.
  • Losing her brother/family: family is important to the young woman, and she fears a life without them in it.

Positive Traits:

  • Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move three times your normal speed.
  • Agile (+3): You are particularly flexible and poised.
  • Diehard (+2): You can remain conscious after attacks that would fell others.

    Total: +8

Negative Traits:

  • Ambitious (-1): You crave power. Money is nice, but being in charge of other people is your favorite thing. You are likely to be brought down by attempting a risky grab for power and failing. Even when deals are risky you will give in and agree most of times.
  • Bad Reputation (-1): You have a reputation that angers or frightens people. Examples include being unlucky, petty, or cruel. The rep may or may not be accurate, but in either case, word travels faster than you do. ((Adalee has the reputation of being calus, un-empathetic to those beneath her))
  • Proud (-1): You don't like accepting help from others. If a gift or offer of aid smacks of charity or pity even the slightest bit, you grow indignant and refuse it.
  • Judgmental (-1): You form opinions quickly and change them very slowly. You also have a tendency to judge people on their appearance. A man dressed as a pirate, no matter how gentlemanly, is a scoundrel and a dog as far as you is concerned. A man covered in mud is a peasant, and a woman wearing revealing clothing is a prostitute.
  • Curiosity (-1): You're a naturally curious person and you find mysteries of any sort irresistible. In most circumstances, alas, your curiosity overrides your common sense.
This forces you to investigate something unusual, even if it looks like it might be dangerous.
  • Derangement/Insanity(-3) ((Arachnophobia))
Phobia: A character afflicted by a phobia persistently fears a particular object or situation. She realizes that the fear is excessive and irrational, but the fear is disturbing enough that she avoids the stimulus.

    Total: -8

IV. MAGIC
Magic: Irwyn: Blade of the Sea
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description: Adalee uses a family heirloom, a falchion blade as her holder item. She is able to use the blade as a typical sword, but while holding it, she also gains the abilities to summon water spells that can augment the sword, summon waves and streams of water that can be cast both offensively and defensively (to protect the user and holder item against magic attacks) as well as moderately change the status of an opponent and herself. Spells include water slashes, waves, and walls, as well as rainstorms. At it's higher rank, the water summoned can even take a form of a water guardian that can deal offensive damage.
Strengths: Because Irwynn is a sword that channels the user's magical energy into water magic, it allows for a significant elemental advantage against fire and earth magics. Another strength is that Adalee's falchion blade is her holder item this means that as the sword itself can cause damage beyond the water spells that it makes. Because Irwynn is a magical weapon, it cannot be broken as a regular non-magic imbued sword could. An obvious strength is that the sword allows the girl to cast all three types of spells: offensive (creating waves/streams and water beasts that cause damage to opponents), defensive (creating shields from waves of water to prevent damage from being taken) and supplementary (using spells to buff her own speed and debuff that of her opponents).
Weaknesses: Because Irwynn manipulates the user's magic into water spells, it has distinct elemental weaknesses including electricity, ice and plant based magics. It is also possible to be be countered by other water users. Depending on magic rank comparisons, a mage that completely manipulate water may be able to remain unaffected by Adalee's spells. Similarly, her water can be eaten by the water dragon slayer if an encounter were to happen. Beyond this, Adalee has no control over water other than what her own magic summons--meaning she cannot redirect or utilize environmental or other mage's water. Since Irwynn: Blade of the Sea is a holder item, the holder loses her magic capabilities if she does not have possession of the blade. This means that if an opponent is skilled at disarming, Adalee would have a severe disadvantage.

V. HISTORY
History:
Adalee was born in Oak, though she wouldn't go very far to say it is her home town, mostly because she spent very little of her childhood there. When Adalee was 3, she moved to Era. Her parents, who were by no means poor-- bought a substantial sized house towards the edge of town. The move had occurred in order for Adalee's mother to be close to her work as a cleric at the courts. Her father was a retired Rune Knight, who had since decided to capitalize on his weapons knowledge by becoming a magical blacksmith.

Naturally the girl was around weapons and swords from a very early age, and expressed an interest in learning the way of a sword. The girl's father (who had wanted a son instead of a daughter for this very reason) began her training with a sword at the age of 4, when he gave her a small sword that fit her tiny frame to start practicing. While many may think that this is too early for a child to start handling a weapon, the Parris's saw nothing wrong with it, and fostered their daughter's skill in handling a weapon.

When Adalee was 5, much to her father's elation, her mother gave birth to her Brother Creed-- and the man made plans to increase Adalee's training so that she could help him train her brother when he came of a proper age to do so. It was at this same age, of 5 that the girl had started school-- and every day she would take with her the training blade. Many parents and students criticized letting such a young girl handle a sword-- though it could have been jealousy because the girl had a knack for a blade-- skills that had already developed far higher than that of her male peers-- or perhaps they just found it weird: who's to know?

One day however, her beloved training sword had gone missing and she had to attend school without it. It wasn't long before a group of boys ranging from age five to seven, pounced on the young girl, who even at such a young age was small for her size. They surrounded the girl, who had, after taking a few kicks to the stomach, curled up into a ball to protect herself-- kicking and punching her. As they tormented her, calling out "See you're still a girl when you lose your sword!" and "What are you going to do about it?" It wasn't until a young boy-- much taller and slightly older than any of the aggressors came along with a giant stick and began pummeling them with it, that they had ran off.

The boy who was found to be named Darian, and nine years of age, helped Adalee back to her home, to which her parents were grateful for the young man for saving their daughter. As they helped clean up her scrapes and bruises, they offered to have the boy stay for dinner-- and it seemed to spark a mutual friendship between the two children. Adalee who was grateful to the young boy, and had never had a friend-- felt inclined to be around this boy.

As the girl healed, she would often go seek out the boy that had protected her from the bullies, finding that they had a mutual curiosity, and would typically go on small childish adventures. Darian quickly became her only friend, and she would go out of her way to be with him whenever she got a chance. She soon began teaching him what she knew about swords, showing him how to use the same swords that she was learning on. She would often bring him home with her, and after a while, by the time Adalee was 8, Creed was 3 and Darian was 12--her parents finally took the boy into their home, as he seemed to have no where to go, and he was like family.

Shortly after, Creed became old enough to start training as well. While Adalee and Darian helped some in his training, providing sparring partners and tips to the young boy, it was obvious that Adalee's father was very committed to his son's training, essentially leaving Adalee and Darian to train on their own. This could be that he had already given each of them the basics that he was starting Creed on, or perhaps that Adalee and Darian were well enough matched in their skill that he trusted them to advance each other.

Perhaps it was from the high influx of training together, but by the time Adalee was 13, she first started to develop feelings for Darian, though, she was sure to hide it-- not wanting to lose her friendship or her training partner based on her feelings for him-- besides, she was almost certain that such a dashing young man: who was at the age of 17 at the time would not return feelings for a 13 year old, casting off any affection from him as that of an older sibling.

It was also at this age (an age that was considered a right of passage in the family) that she was given Irwyn-- a sword that channeled the magical energy of the user through the sword in order to manipulate water. This was one of two twin blades-- magical heirlooms of her family. The other blade, Strynn: Blade of Storms, was reserved for her brother, when he too reached that age. While it was certainly not the first magical sword she had ever used, Irwyn had an immense learning curve. The blade would take up most of her magic reserves, quickly leaving the girl weak. Her father seemed disappointed that she wasn't able to master the sword right away. The young teen felt inclined to increase the strength of her magical energy to prove that she deserved the sword that was bestowed upon her.

Over the next three years, her skills with Irwyn had drastically increased, as though did her feelings for Darian. She found it hard to be alone with him, an issue that had never caused problems before but she quickly found ways to prevent it from happening-- often spending time with both Creed and Darian seemed to help alleviate her feelings some-- though not for long. Because both Darian and herself mentored Creed, it often felt like "playing house" and indeed, with how protective she was of her younger brother, many nurturing motherly instincts came out.

At the age of 16-- the youngest age she was allowed to commit herself, she decided to join the Rune Knights, to put her skills to good use. Had anyone asked her directly about it, she would state the reason as trying to prove herself, and her skill to her parents-- make well on the family name... But there was another reason to do so: Leaving to join the Rune Knights meant getting away from the awkwardness of loving Darian.

Once there, in her 3 months of basic training, Adalee decided to hide her feminine side from those in her organization, scared that it would make her seem vulnerable to the other members of the Rune Knights. Instead, she was far more hardened around others, trying not to appear weak-- which she still secretly thinks she is. After her training, she got assigned to a squad that went out serving the community.

While she was allowed to live at home, she often didn't stay there long, going out on frequent trips and missions. Each time she came home-- perhaps because of a new maturity, or perhaps because she knew that she'd be able to leave again soon, she found it easier to be around Darian-- even alone. While the feelings still certainly existed, she was able to burry them, and not let it interfere with their interactions.

Every time she came home, she was greatly impressed with how both Darian and Creed seemed to be greatly improving. While Darian and her were always well matched in terms of skills, she soon became nervous that Creed might be able to catch up to her in power, she too started training harder to maintain her skill over him, knowing too that Irwyn had the distinct elemental disadvantage against Strynn.

This motivation helped her continue up the ladders of ranks. Indeed, at the age of 23, she got promoted to captain of a small troop of Rune Knights. She immediately went to work on recruiting both her brother and Darian to join her as she led the small troop, knowing that their abilities would be a welcome addition to the Rune Knights, as well as bring back a family unit that admittedly she had started missing.
