II. APPEARANCE

Height: 5'7"
Weight: 153 lbs
Hair: Brown; smooth, neck-length.
Eyes: Brown
General Appearance: Cricket is an average-looking male teenager with barely any traits standing out. He has a slim build that doesn't show his physical prowess. His hair is short but unattended, and all the time, a single bundle of bedhair can be seen either on his left or right side. Most of the time, he has a dull, uncaring expression on his face, and his eyes are narrowed on a single screen displaying a game. His skin is lightly tanned, noticeably shown on his head and bare hands/forearms. Cricket often-times wears clothes of barely any complexity, tending to don long or short-sleeved shirts with barely any detail, and long pants. Despite his attitude, Cricket could come off as rather attractive too.
Extra: Always wears glasses, and always holds a game console of the sort.

III. PERSONALITY

Personality: Cricket is not a social person; in every way you look at it, that's what you'll get. He detaches himself from society to be alone and play games, even when he's surrounded by people (dear god knows why that would happen). He will search for quiet places where he can stay isolated and indulge himself in a false reality, to run away from this one. That is because, he believes there is no god, nobody watches you out of goodwill like told, and that the world is cruel. In short, this reality is imperfect, and if he can help it, he would rather having nothing to do with it. While there probably aren't many that share his view on reality, Cricket will gladly pass time together with anybody who shows the same interest as he, but only for a certain amount of time and up to a certain number of people.

Which is a pity; because while disliking most 'real' people, Cricket can hold his respect and never forgets to show appreciation to what is done for his sake, even if it isn't that visible; for example, he would work to repay the guild that takes care of him, and would return favors in the best of ways. Despite being so gloomy concerning reality, Cricket suffers the classic 'hero syndrome': no matter if he likes them or not, he cannot abandon a person in need, and if he fails at coming to aid, he would be saddened greatly. He fears getting attached to people because they will disappear from his life, just like his father and presumed prior friends. Cricket is incredibly calm and collected, likely because he refuses to pay full attention to most things; despite that, when approached closely, he will get nervous and lose track of his thoughts properly. Another reason for closing himself in the cyber world.

Most of the time, Cricket is in control of what happens regarding him; that is because he can think up solutions and options quickly, and operates on reason and logic, as well as general knowledge. Due to this, one thing that really grinds his gears, is not knowing what's happening around him. He always has to be in control to stay calm, solve problems quickly and-- return to playing games. That's just how he is; but, as he acknowledges he still lives in this reality, he will prioritize human life and safety over hisprecious machines. Even if it means... Sacrificing them (dear god, please no).

Likes:

  • Me-time.
  • Playing games.
  • Suits; he just can't afford one.
  • Tidiness
  • People who share his interests.
  • Determined people; no matter how regularly annoying.

Dislikes:

  • Large crowds.
  • Short pants; they're not as comfy as they say.
  • Annoying people, especially girls who talk too much.
  • Lack of gratitude.
  • Illogical things and things he can't understand.
  • Not knowing things.
  • Mess.

Motivations:

  • New games and more gaming time.
  • Actually meeting people that share his passion.
  • Leading a peaceful life.

Fears:

  • Fear of spiders.
  • Fear of ghosts.
  • Fear of the dead.

Positive Traits:

  • Deceitful (+2): You have a knack for disguising the truth. Your lies are difficult to distinguish from the truth.
  • Diligent (+2): Your meticulousness allows you to analyze minute details that others miss.
  • Nimble Fingers (+2): You are adept at manipulating small, delicate objects. This involves things such as a small mechanics and locks.
  • Persuasive (+2): You have a way with words and body language. Somehow you manage to persuade weaker minded people easily.
  • Stealthy (+3): You are particularly good at avoiding notice. You could be sitting somewhere in a thread at a bar and people wouldn't even notice that you were there.

Negative Traits:

  • Aloof (-1): Your manner is cold and unapproachable, distancing you from friends and strangers alike. Your preternatural intelligence lends itself to viewing others as slow-witted and a waste of your precious time. Your charisma is lowered.
  • Allergies (-1): You are afflicted with allergies. These may be something as simple as hay fever, but the reactions to such will result in something like a huge bout of sneezing and gasping. Dust makes Cricket constantly sneeze.
  • Bad Reputation (-1): You have a reputation that angers or frightens people. Examples include being unlucky, petty, or cruel. The rep may or may not be accurate, but in either case, word travels faster than you do. Cricket's known for being a lazy neet that detaches himself from everybody.
  • Cautious (-1): You are uneasy engaging in behavior that carries a chance of failure. You must spend twice as long performing any skill that requires an action. For example, deciphering a page of text would take 2 minutes for you instead of 1.
  • Intolerance (-1): You have an irrational dislike of a certain thing. It may be an animal, a class of person, a situation, or just about anything at all. Cricket can't tolerate crowds. Large crowds that consist of 'real' people.
  • Judgmental (-1): You form opinions quickly and change them very slowly. You also have a tendency to judge people on their appearance. A man dressed as a pirate, no matter how gentlemanly, is a scoundrel and a dog as far as you is concerned. A man covered in mud is a peasant, and a woman wearing revealing clothing is a prostitute.
  • Night Blindness (-2): Your night vision isn't worth squat, due to a physiological deficiency. This is due to a birth defect, and therefore cannot be healed by any means.
  • Overzealous (-1): You are incapable of having a weak opinion. Everything you believe, you believe as if your life depended on it. Everything you don't believe in, you hate with a passion.
Once in a while your flaw gets you to strongly defend one of your opinions, no matter how inappropriate the time and place, nor what the circumstances of such an outburst may be.
  • Righteous (-1): The end justifies the means. You are willing to perform morally repugnant actions in order to achieve noble goals. Unfortunately, this can alienate those people who might support your cause if you didn't use such heavy-handed methods.
  • Squeamish (-1): You don't want anyone's blood on your hands. It's perfectly okay to get blood on your underling's hands, but you don't like to do the deed yourself. Of course, you don't always follow up on things to make sure the job actually gets done--after all, the sight of blood has always disturbed you.

IV. MAGIC

Magic: Cyber Magic
Caster or Holder: Holder-type.
Description: Cyber Magic is rather unique; it doesn't exactly focus on the physical world, but the electronic world created by human technology and Lacrima assistance. The main function of Cyber Magic is the ability to manifest elements from such world in the material world, or any dimension the user is in in general. In short, bringing the cyber world to reality. Cyber Magic is rather dependent on whatever vassal is used as its key (a computer, console or simple communication Lacrima for examples), and so long as the key remains in the user's hold, the possibilities are endless. To even use such magic however, the user needs to have good knowledge over the cybernetic world and everything related to it, including what kind of Lacrima empowers said vassal device. It can be used for various purposes, depending on the user's understanding of the device at hand.
Strengths: Due to its numerous possible functions, Cyber Magic can be used offensively, defensively and supportively rather freely, switching purposes between the spells. The range of spells goes from simple things like waves to more complicated elements like viruses. Cyber Magic's affinity relates mostly to Fire and Thunder, yet as its indirect, spells that imitate those two aren't entirely affected by the logical elemental counterpart, as in the end they're cybernetic. It works mostly on long-range, but has several short and close-range functions as well.
Weaknesses: As with all holder-type magics, Cyber Magic has the huge flaw of depending entirely on a physical item. If Cricket doesn't hold onto anything electronic that can access the cyber network, he can't use his magic at all. A strict thing Cyber Magic is incapable of accomplishing, is enhancement of one's abilities: it is a very direct form of magic. Most electronic devices run on individual batteries or power sources, thus the magic may only be used when an electronic device in possession has enough source to support the usage. In addition, Cyber Magic holds weakness against electricity, magical or not magical, as that could cause overdrive and eventual crashing of the systems and mechanisms. The same applies to high levels of heat.

V. HISTORY

History: Cricket was never really 'into the present'. You could say he never even bothered to try.

Cricket Rolls was born to an average house for a regular family of three, as the secondborn and first son. He always seemed pretty distant and slow on the uptake when he was a kid, making his parents worry about his mind. He didn't seem to develop any social skills despite being surrounded by other kids his age, staying more or less impassive to everybody around and barely saying anything. At least, he was obedient and innocent, but the fact he never seemed to actually care about anything and just drifted to his own thoughts somewhat worried his parents. In his own way, Cricket would come to find certain, special closeness to his older sister, but that was about the most affection he would show as a kid.

When Cricket was 6 years old, his father took the family to a short trip out of town, to the mountains. Cricket was still oblivious, but he seemed to enjoy himself a little when his older sister was around. Unfortunately, the trip ended with a disaster, as both the father and the boy fell off a cliff. It was a miracle that the kid survived the fall, yet he hit his head pretty badly. As for the father, he wasn't as fortunate as his son. It was apparent that Cricket would die too, with how long the rescuing took, but the family never lost hope. And indeed, probably thanks to the power of belief, Cricket survived, but spent a very long time in the hospital, in rehabilitation from the heavy hit he took. Something seemed to trigger in his brain from that insane hit, and Cricket turned out waking up sharper than ever. He only learned of his father's death after a month in rehab. It's around then too that he discovered the cyber world.

Upon learning of such news, Cricket shut himself in his little cybernetic universe whenever he had free time, for a long while refusing to speak with anybody. He was still oblivious, but this time out of choice; Cricket decided that the world was cruel, and he was a lot better off living in his perfect world online, through Lacrimas and devices. Cricket grew up from that point, trying to avoid society as much as possible, but often failing due to his respect and lasting affection towards his older sister, who asked him to be good to those around him. Time and time again, the non-cyber world let him down, to the point where Cricket simply had enough. It was painful, but the older sister ended up watching as her younger brother turned more and more detached from reality.

In time, Cricket found a place to go to in order to properly escape to the cyber world without anybody interfering; that being the local town's guild, Blue Pegasus. The least wanted was discovered there: Cricket was a gifted individual, born with the ability to use magic. Having used up quite a lot of Blue Pegasus' resources, Cricket was recruited as a full-time member, so he could pay for what he exerted of them.

Let's take a look.

-You must have a guild stamp.
-Your magic cannot produce holograms as that would fall under Illusion Magic, which is banned.
