III. PERSONALITY

Personality: Zane is a fun loving and care-free mage.  He tries not to get tied up in the political mess of the guilds and became a member in order to meet other mages and have something to do.  He is extremely loyal and trusting of those he deems as friends, and often thinks everyone he meets will be his friend.  Zane believes that friendship is one of the strongest magics in the land, and his usage of the celestial gates is a testament to it.

Zane is often seen by the opposite gender as sometimes acting as a flirt.  He often assumes that his relationships are stronger than others may believe.  In battle, Zane is focused and calm, drastically different than his usual self.  His positive attitude guides most of his decisions, and his drive to better himself and his spirits that he has contracted with pushes him to the limits of his abilities.

His good memory distinctly remembers people who have crossed him in the past, and it is difficult for Zane to work past grudges that he has developed.  In the same sense, he is extremely outgoing for people who have validated trust in their friendship.   Often times, he will put his needs second to those around him, and strives to find solutions for their problems.
Likes:

  • His Friends
  • New Celestial Spirits
  • Ladies
  • Hard Work
  • Good Food

Dislikes:

  • Feeling Alone
  • Paperwork
  • Ignorant People
  • Rash Decisions

Motivations: Zane is driven by the loyalties he carries to his celestial spirits and his friends.  He hopes one day, just as others have protected him, that he will be able to reciprocate and become a leader for his generation.  Seeing other excel around him also pushes him to his limits, in the hopes that he can best others.
Fears:

  • Claustrophobia
  • Spiders

Positive Traits:

  • High Society (+2): You know good manners and were trained to handle social interactions in noble circles. This is useful in requests involving members of the highest levels of society, such as monarchs, nobles, courtiers, lords and ladies, and high-ranking clerics.
  • Persuasive (+2): You have a way with words and body language. Somehow you manage to persuade weaker minded people easily.
  • Swift (+3): You are fleet of foot. When running, you move three times your normal speed.

Negative Traits:

  • Hedonistic (-1): You love a good time. You party too much, drink too much, and eat too much. You have trouble resisting an invitation to join someone in a drink and sometimes shirk your duty if offered a more enjoyable time elsewhere. Whenever a good time is presented you let your guard. You're also not capable to resist seduction of any sort. It's just not in your nature to resist such opportunities.
  • Judgmental (-1): You form opinions quickly and change them very slowly. You also have a tendency to judge people on their appearance. A man dressed as a pirate, no matter how gentlemanly, is a scoundrel and a dog as far as you is concerned. A man covered in mud is a peasant, and a woman wearing revealing clothing is a prostitute.
  • Lecherous (-1): You have a lusty nature and a tendency to pursue the pleasures of the flesh. A woman or a man (however your tastes run) is an almost irresistible temptation to you. You give in to these temptations easily.
  • Star-crossed (-1): You keep falling in love with the wrong people. You're the common soldier who falls in love with the king's daughter at first sight, or the hero who falls for the villain's daughter without knowing who she is.
  • Talkative (-1): You have a problem keeping your plans to yourself. Your ideas are simply so clever that you tell them to other people, so that you can watch their astonishment creep across their faces just before they tell you just how smart you are. Your flaw gets you to reveal your plans or evil scheme to the wrong people. There's nothing to prevent you from dropping them into a deathtrap afterwards, but should they survive, then you've got problems.
  • Trusting (-2): You don't like to believe that other people are capable of misleading and lying to you. After all, people are basically good, right?

IV. MAGIC

Magic: Celestial Spirit Magic
Caster or Holder: Holder
Description: Celestial Spirit summoning is a magic which allows the user to summon great beings for offensive, defensive, and supplementary purposes. Each being belongs to a different key. When a key is found, the user must create a contract with it, and thus the relationship between gate keeper and spirit begins. However, if the user breaks this contract, the spirit can go away. The contract can be broken by breaking a promise, going to jail, or being unable to use the spirit such as being in a coma, or dead.

There are two types of keys, gold, and silver. Silver are the most common, and they very in rank depending on how powerful they are. Most of these spirits are humanoid, however, a few are known to be beasts. Gold keys, however, are all humanoids, and are the most powerful of all the spirits. However, no two spirits are the same. Each spirit has its own unique strengths and weaknesses, whether they be physical or mental weaknesses.
Strengths: Allows the user to summon great beings which can aid him in battle. Each being is completely different, meaning that there is a wide range of techniques and elements used. This gives the user a bit of an upper hand as long as they see the opponents skills before summoning. At higher ranks, the user can summon multiple gates. Also the spirit never dies! It can only be sent back to the spirit world were it heals up.
Weaknesses:  Most of the spirits have a mind of their own, meaning that they can be arrogant, and do not always have to do exactly what the summoner tells them to. If the user makes his/her spirit mad, they can close their own gate.
This is an expensive magic. Keys are not only rare but they cost a lot of magic because of it. As each spirit has its own, unique strength, it also has its own weaknesses.
Once a spirit is damaged to the point where they are sent back to the spirit world, they cannot be summoned again for the rest of that thread. The spirit can only be summoned if the user has the key. The spirit is summoned at the exact same spot as where the gate was opened.

V. HISTORY

History:
Zane was born to two non-magical parents in the town of Hargeon.  The Addison family was a prosperous and wealthy name, as both of his parents had extremely high profiting merchant jobs within the town, and brought much fame and attention to their family.  Zane had any desire he wished during his childhood, with servants abundant, food from around the world brought at the simplest of requests, and an amazing home to call his own.  However, Zane lacked much wanted time to spend with his family, and the kind words of his maids and butlers did not make up for this time.

Looking for something to bind his wandering mind to, Zane filled his time by reading books about the world around him, since his parents frowned on their child leaving the estate.  The young Addison heir became fascinated with the life of adventure and the boundless possibilities that magic could bring him.  He combined his longing for friends with his desire to become a mage, and decided there was no better way than to obtain Celestial Spirit Keys.  This rare holder magic could become pricy, but the financial burden was the least of Zane’s worries, that was something his parents would just have to deal with later.

It was at the young age of 11 that Zane had obtained two keys.  He had to do some snooping in order to find some of his parent’s merchant contacts, but he eventually found the list of dealers in holder magic.  Each day, he began to train with his spirits, not only to build up his stamina, but to get a sense of their abilities and demeanors.  Outside of battle, he also took the time to just relax with them, and spend time with some of his closest friends.

When Zane turned 14, he confronted his parents about their smothering nature, and to tell them he wanted to become a mage at the local guild, Blue Pegasus.  He knew their responses wouldn’t be 100% encouraging, but they were supportive of his decision to say the least.  He approached the guild to request to join, and he has never regretted his decision since.  For the past five years, Zane has worked harder and harder to improve his skills in the guild, taking on requests, sparring with some of the other mages, and searching for additional keys around the region.  He hopes that in the future, he will be able to excel through the ranks in the guild, and work his way up to the top.
